WHAT IS THE FIRST THING I NEED TO KNOW ABOUT XTREME?

XTREME is all about having fun and making a mess! So you will want to:

Dress in clothes and shoes that can be destroyed

Not bring phones, watches, jewelry etc

IS IT ONLY ABOUT FUN- WHAT WILL MY CHILD BE LEARNING SOMETHING?

At XTREME, we are helping our rising 6th graders transition to Student Life. After this week, they will be SL kids and will participate in SLAM on Sunday mornings @ 9:30 and RELIANT on Wednesday nights @ 6:30. So our main goal? It is to bridge that gap for them- help them make some new relationships.

XTREME THEMES FOR THE WEEK!

WATER WARSSUNDAY:Fight the Good Fight of Faith!

CHOCOLATE SYRUPMONDAY:Work Together with others and for God!

CAMPFIRETUESDAY:God can light a fire in us that will never go out!

FOOD FIGHTWEDNESDAY:What comes out of your mouth matters!

VOLUNTEER APPRECIATION

We couldn’t make VBS happen without the over 100 volunteers who give them time and energy to serve your children. This year, we are allowing you- the parents of the children they serve- to appreciate the volunteers. BEGINNING SUNDAY EVENING- ALL PARENTS ARE ENCOURAGED TO BRING ONE BAKED GOOD SNACK ITEM TO VBS. Drop this off at the “Coffee Café” in the upstairs lobby of the sanctuary. We will sit up a room for our volunteers to enjoy your treats. Help us show them how much their service matters- BRING A SNACK ON SUNDAY NIGHT!

DAILY OFFERING & MISSIONS

Here’s how our daily offering will work: each night at VBS your children will bring their offering up on the stage and put it in the offering display on the left side. Each day we will tell them how much they have brought in together as a group.

Daily Offering Challenges:

SundayPenny and Nickel Day

MondayDime Day

TuesdayQuarter Day

WednesdayDollar Day

Our offering will go to support the Operation Kid-To-Kid Project of clean drinking water for children in India. We will donate our offering to Group Cares to ensure that our kids’ contributions will be a part of this incredible project.

WHAT SHOULD MY CHILD WEAR?

Kids at XTREME will get dirty- filthy- wet…..

So wear a t-shirt and shorts that can be washed for each night then thrown away. XTREME kids will get a XTREME t-shirt the first night and will be changing into that shirt. Tennis shoes are preferred but may get damaged. MAKE SURE TO BRING A TOWEL EACH NIGHT!!! And you may want one in your car too!

*We will not have a “Water Day” this year- instead Join us for our Family Fun Fair!

WHAT SHOULD MY ELEMENTARY CHILD BRING XTREME?

Your child should bring a smile and a good attitude to XTREME each night in addition to their offering. Your child will be provided a snack each evening as part of the XTREMEprogram. Don’t forget to send a towel each night too!

Any child with a food allergy should bring their own individual snack,in alabeled brown paper bag and give it to their SQUAD Leader. Because of the number of children we are serving this week at XTREME, we will not be able to provide a separate snack to children with allergies. Thank you for providing their snack and for understanding.

WHAT SHOULD MY CHILD NOT BRING TO XTREME?

Your child should not bring any electronic devices or cell phones.Children will not be allowed to be on cell phones

at all duringXTREME. Please

work out a pick up point before

hand! They also should not

bring any toys with them.

VBST-SHIRTS

XTREME T-Shirts will be given out on the first night. Shirts purchased before deadline are guaranteed in size. Please be aware that your child may not receive requested size otherwise.

FIRST AID, MEDICINE, & ALLERGIES

A first aid station will be staffed with trained medical personnel every day. If your child visits the first aid station, you will receive an incident report describing the nature of the visit and any action taken.

If your child needs to take any medication during XTREME hours, please take this medication at home before sending your child to XTREME. No medicines will be kept at the first aid station. The exception is epi-pens and asthma inhalers. Epi-pens and asthma inhalers will stay with the child’s squad leader throughout the day due to the urgency with which they must be administered during an emergency. All epi-pens and inhalers will be sent home with the child at the end ofeach day and will need to be returned each evening.

If your child is sick – running a fever, had a fever in the last 24 hours, had diarrhea/vomiting in the last 24 hours, complains the day of XTREME of not feeling well, etc… -- please keep your child at home.

REMINDER: Any child with a food allergy should bring a snack of their own in a paper bag, with their name and crew number, clearly marked on it and give it to their crew leader.

DROP OFF TIPS…

►Drop off @ 5:35-5:45 each night- you can drop off outside of the SL Building (not the main Sanctuary); you do not have to walk in or check your child in.

►Your child’s squad leader – who will be responsible for your child while at XTREME- will be waiting at their squad colored bleachers inside of SL. We do not pass out security tags to XTREME children. SL children are dropped off and picked up as middle school kids are. You will not have to check your child in and out.

►Please try to keep your Sunday night drop-off brief so that everyone can be assembled in the Student Life Building by the 5:45 pm start time.

PICK UP @ 9:00pm

►All XTREME children should be picked up in front of the SL building at 9:01.

►Please park in a spot and get out to look for your child. DO NOT PULL UP AS A CAR RIDER LINE. This blocks families from picking up from VBS.

►If you are a volunteer, you may have your XTREME child walk and meet you. All other kids should be met in the front of SL.
