Mock Interview Activity

Each of you has been assigned a partner for this activity.

  • One partner will be an interviewer. That partner will interviewone of your classmates for the “job opening” described in class. You must select your interview questions and plan the interview to fit in a 5 minute timeframe. Use the list of the most commonly asked interview questions as a guideline. You may ask questions that are not on this list.
  • The second partner will be an interviewee for the “job opening” described in class. You must prepare answers to frequently asked interview questions and plan all details that are necessary for a successful interview, including paperwork. The interviewer must be able to answer any questions the interviewee may ask during the interview.

You will be given one class period to prepare for the mock interviews. At the end of this block, you must turn in a list stating who will be the interviewer and who will be the interviewee. You must also turn in a list of the questions your interviewer will be asking during the interview.

  • The order of interviews will be determined by a random drawing. Interviews will take place during the block following the preparation day. Your teacher will rate the interviewee and the interviewer during each interview. Your grade will be an average of the rating sheets of both the interviewee and the interviewer for each team. This grade will count in the 15% project category of your class grade. Both partners will receive the same grade.
