AP Exam Student FAQs
When should I arrive at the testing room?
∙7:30 AM FOR MORNING EXAM – Excused Periods 1 through 6
∙11:30 AM for AFTERNOON EXAM – Excused Periods 5 through 8
∙1:30 PM for Physics E&M exam
Can I bring bags or backpacks into the testing room?
∙NO BAGS OR BACKPACKS are permitted in the testing room.
∙Bags or backpacks may be left unsecured in the Auditorium Lobby. Please DO NOT leave valuables in your bags.
What do I NEED to bring to my exam?
∙Three sharpened No. 2 pencils (with erasers)
∙Three pens with black or dark blue ink (required for every exam)
∙A watch
∙An approved calculator (with EXTRA BATTERIES) for AP Calculus, Chemistry, Physics, or Statistics Exams; a ruler or straightedge for an AP Physics Exams
What is recommended to bring to the exam?
∙Bring a snack and water bottle in a sealed plastic bag (to remain on the floor until break)
∙Get a good night’s rest before your test
∙Eat a nutritious breakfast
∙Sweater or sweatshirt (the testing room can get cold)
What is NOT permitted in the testing room?
∙CELL PHONES, photographic equipment, computers or anything electronic
∙Watches that beep or have an alarm (Smartwatches also not allowed)
∙Clothing with subject-related information
∙Books, compasses, correction fluid, dictionaries, highlighters, or notes
∙Rulers and straightedges (except as noted above)
∙Scratch paper (make notes on portions of the exam booklets)
∙Calculators (except for exams noted above)
What if I’m sick the day of the exam?
∙If you miss the exam due to illness, you MUST contact Mr. Kapner THE DAY OF THE EXAM to schedule a makeup as well as provide him with a note upon your return to school.
You must abide by the policies of both the College Board and Walt Whitman High School
Misconduct will be reported and could jeopardize your AP Exam grade.
