The recipient of the scholarship will be chosen by a scholarship committee composed of: the CHS Alumni Association Officersand the Counselor of Cheney High School. The scholarship will be in the amount of $500.00 and will be paid in one installment at the beginning of the school term.
This scholarship will be offered annually.

1.The candidate must have attended CheneyHigh School for at least three years.
2.The candidate must have a “B” or better grade average.
3.Citizenship: Leadership, service and general conduct.
4.Character: Honesty, reliability, ingenuity, resourcefulness, and perseverance.

6.Financial need: This need not be a determining factor unless the candidates are so nearly tied in the committee’s judgment as to make selection difficult, in which case it may be taken into consideration.
All candidates shall write a brief, not over 250 words, essay for the scholarship. The essay topic is: “How has attending school in the Cheney USD 268 School system affected my life.”
The student possessing the highest degree of the above qualifications shall be awarded the scholarship. If there is not a candidate meeting the necessary qualification in the opinion of the committee, no scholarship shall be granted for that year.
The Alumni Association reserves the right to alter the amount of the scholarship should its earning power, during a given year, not warrant its awarding the above figure.
The Alumni Association reserves the right to demand repayment of the unused portion of this scholarship in case the student does not finish the freshman year of college, providing they drop out of school for the reasons other than illness, or something beyond their control. The same committee that originally selected the candidate for the Alumni Scholarship will make the decision.
