STAFF COORDINATOR
Period of Service:June 21 - August 1, 2009 (6 weeks)
Stipend: $3,200 plus room and board at the camp during camp sessions
Desired Qualifications
- Be at least 21 years of age
- Previous CampAdams experience
- Training and experience in leadership roles
- Desire to work with children outdoors
- Ability to work with adults
- Enthusiasm, sense of humor, patience and self control

General Responsibilities
The staff coordinator is responsible for facilitating the camp’s day to day operations. They will be working closely with the directors of the camp help reach their goals. The staff coordinator is the center for all communications to and from the volunteer staff, summer staff and year round staff. The staff coordinator will be working with young counselors to give feedback and help them reach their counseling goals.
Specific Responsibilities
- Supervise KP duties when assigned
- Lead a trust group, if necessary
- Regularly participate in meals, campfires, vespers and camp events
- Schedule and supervise cleaning of common areas of camp daily
- Facilitate snack
- On the first night of camp organize staff pre-meeting, lead icebreakers
- Attend Training Weekend and lead portions
- Coordinate with kitchen/site staff to ensure safety
Direct and Supervise the Summer Staff
- Orient Summer Staff to curriculum
- Supervise the preparation of the Summer Staff's workstations to ensure
readiness
- Lead daily staff meeting
- Organize trust group rotations
- Give feedback to Summer staff members
- Organize weekly schedules (KP etc.)
- Help staff members grow as leaders
- Train and supervise the Summers Staff's trust group leadership
- Give Feedback
- Facilitate Director communication with Summer Staff
Supporting the Directors
- Attend the daily staff meeting lead by the directors
- Assist directors with their vision for the week
- Communicate with directors about special events
- Participate in discipline issues with counselors/campers that affect the whole community
- Give feedback from the summer staff
- Coordinate with Directors, Summer Staff and Site Staff to provide basic
materials for program (eg: pens/pencils/markers/hand tools for service projects etc.)
Supporting Counselors
- Meet with CIT's at training event to identify specific, measurable and
achievable goals.
- Have daily meetings with CIT's to track goals and offer support
- Help new counselors understand their role at camp
- Help problem solve with inexperienced counselors
- Reinforce clear expectations for the role of all counselors
- Work with directors to intervene in an unsuccessful counseling assignment.
- Recognize successes and achievements/assessment and weeks conclusion
Interacting with campers
- Lead small group activities (interest groups etc.)
- Help organize small group activities
- Communicate with directors and counselors to solve discipline issues
- Set clear expectations for camper behavior
- Work with directors to intervene if necessary with a camper who must re-covenant and/or be removed from the camp program
- Facilitate the evaluation process and share results with staff/directors
Communicate with Parents
- Participate and help facilitate registration
- Help the directors coordinate special circumstances (early pick-ups, family emergencies etc.)
- Participate and help facilitate in the pick-up of campers
- Communicate with parents about issues with their camper
