SHEEP
Sheep Rules and Regulations
- In order to exhibit in Sheep, the 4-H member must be enrolled in:
Sheep I – Rams, Lambs, and You Pub. BU-6367 or
Sheep II – Shear Delight Pub. BU-6368 or
Sheep III – Leading the Flock Pub. BU-6369
- Refer to General Livestock Rules.
- Ownership of breeding sheep by June 1, current 4-H year. Ownership of market sheep by May 1, current 4-H year.
5. All animals must be fed and watered while on exhibit.
6 All breeding lambs must have been lambed after September 1, previous year.
7. All market lambs must have been lambed after January 1, current year.
8. Market lambs can be a ewe or wether only.
9. All wethers must be slick shorn. (No patch shearing allowed.)
BREEDING SHEEP SHOW
- Breeding Sheep are not permitted to be sold in livestock auction.
- Entrants will be limited no more than two entries per class.
- Sheep shown in Breeding Sheep division MAY NOT be shown in the Market Sheep division.
- IMPORTANT—For Fair purposes only the Breeding Sheep division is shown by SubClass order.
- For Classes 01 – 08 SubClasses as listed below will apply.

Class 01L – Senior Ewe Lamb – Lambed September 1 – December 31 previous year
Class 02L – Junior Ewe Lamb – Lambed on or after January 1 of current year
Class 03L – Yearling Ewe Lamb – Lambed betw3een September 1, two years prior to the show and September 1, of the previous year.

MARKET SHEEP SHOW
- All Market Sheep will be weighed Sunday at noon. Superintendents will determine Class divisions for sheep based on these weights.
- Ownership of Market Sheep by May 1, current 4-H year.
- Only Market Sheep may be sold in livestock auction.
- Each exhibitor will be limited to two animals in the Market Sheep show.
- Market Sheep may NOT be shown in the Breeding Sheep show.
- Market Lambs must be slick shorn.
Class 05L – Market Lamb – (Ewe or Wether) Lambed on or after January 1, current year. Light-weight, Medium-weight, and Heavy-weight classes to be determined after weigh-in.
Class 06L-Land of Crawford (female, registered, born, and bred by
4-H’er)
Land of Crawford - A special class has been established to recognize the top breeding female. Bred and owned by a 4-H’er in beef, goats, sheep, swine and rabbits. All animals must have registration papers showing the exhibitor as the breeder and owner of the animal. No premiums are paid for this class. Prizes will be awarded to the Champion and Reserve Champion in each class. Females entered in market classes are not eligible for Land of Crawford.

Class 3- Overall Champion Showman NOTE – May be eligible for Master Showmanship Competition – See Master Showmanship
Regardless of age, Showmanship winner in Class 1 will move up to Class 2 the following year, winner of Class 2 will move to Class 3 the following year. Class 2 winners may show in class 3 and unlimited number of times. There will be a champion and reserve in each division. Entries on the 4-H Fair Entry Form are requested. No premiums.
