92 PLA Ad Hoc Committee Meeting

BOE President Jonaitis called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.

Agenda was approved as amended. The topics of “State’s Approved Plan” and “Duties of the Ad Hoc Committee” order were switched.

Ron Pincumbe presented an overview of the monitoring process the committee is to follow for the 92 PLA Plan. Mr. Pincumbe also passed out a chart that visually shows on a one-page sheet what is in the State Approved Plan. Mr. Pincumbe also explained to the committee how Lakeview High School became one of the 92 Persistently Lowest Achieving Schools. The purpose of the committee is to monitor the progress of high school staff. The output from the Ad Hoc Committee will be “continue, refine, or redevelop”.

Dixie Pope passed out the State Approved Plan document along with a spreadsheet detailing the required items and optional items that were approved in the plan. Dr. Pope went through each line item.

Both Dr. Pope and Mr. Pincumbe informed the committee of the State’s process regarding the Plan and/or School Improvement Grant (SIG) application. The committee was informed that due to a change from the federal government, the SIG application would be a separate document, not part of the Plan application as originally informed. The high school is working on the SIG application, which is due February 25, 2011.

The next meeting of the committee is scheduled for March 7, 2011 at 7:30 p.m. At this meeting, Mr. Pincumbe will present to the Committee what the high school has accomplished and what are the next steps for rest of 2010-2011 school year. A status update will be given to the Public at the March 14, 2011 Board Meeting.
