Job Role
- Grow, develop and manage all aspects of the hospices online sales activity, increasing profitability and maximising income from donated goods – through recognised sales channels including eBay, Amazon and Kite books.
- Work with the Shops Area Manager and Trading Company General Manager to identify goods from our retail and fundraising departments that are suitable for selling online to increase income.
- Develop and build relationships with retail and fundraising staff to raise awareness and drive online sales, recruiting a network of volunteers to further develop and support this activity.
- Write detailed and compelling item descriptions, take photos and create listings.
- Work with the communications team to further develop and promote our online retail capability.
Main Duties
- Meet budgeted sales targets and be responsible for the efficiency and profitability of the Online Sales operation via on-line retail channels including eBay & Amazon.
- Responsible for all aspects of the day-to-day running of the online sales operation.
- Create and monitor accurate product listings, writing item details and descriptions in online stores.
- Answer online enquiries in a timely and professional manner and ensure that a healthy level of positive feedback is obtained and that any queries are addressed with the highest standards of customer service, in line with standard retail practices.
- Work with the communications team to raise awareness and increase internet sales though; an enhanced presence on the hospice website; relevant social media channels and through identifying PR opportunities.
- Ensure stocks of donated goods are maintained, work with the physical shops as required to ensure an adequate volume of stock and to gain the best possible prices for all items.
- Responsible for the security of all online stock including items to be researched, currently listed items and sold items awaiting postage.
- Responsible for the efficient and timely dispatch of all items.
- Ensure that accurate paperwork and records relating to online sales are maintained and communicated to the relevant departments.
- Recruit and train a team of volunteers, ensuring levels are maintained to cover staffing of the area, including holiday cover. Ensure all relevant paperwork is completed and promptly sent to the Volunteer Manager
- Attend quarterly formal meetings with the Shops Area Manager and Trading Company General Manager to review results, gain advice, give feedback, access hospice information and generally gain support.
- Work with retail and fundraising teams to identify goods and raise awareness about the opportunities got selling goods online. Meet the other Shop Managers at informal department meetings at least twice a year to share good practice
- Ensure that all Health & Safety requirements are met and maintained, including the completion of all regular checks and paperwork (Two training days a year must be attended) and all relevant information is disseminated to Volunteers.
- Be flexible on days worked to ensure the shop is staffed appropriately
- Promote good internal communications between Hospice departments and to promote its good name externally

Special Conditions
The post holder will be based at the Distribution Centre in Reddish but there is a requirement to visit the other sites and shops on a regular basis.
This job description will be regularly reviewed and may be amended in consultation with the postholder to reflect developments. The post holder will be subject to regular individual performance reviews and the job profile along with the Hospice Business Plan will be used as a basis for determining objectives.

EXPERIENCE /
- Experience of listing items for sale in an online retail environment
- Have a good knowledge of antiques, collectables, vintage, books, designer goods and current market trends
- Strong knowledge of eBay and Amazon Marketplace and a high attention to detail
- Supervisory experience
- Management of volunteers
- Experience within the charity trading sector
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office and photo editing software
- Awareness and knowledge of social media channels and some awareness of web development would be an advantage
