PRODUCTION INFORMATION

·  Performances: April 30, May 1, 2, 2015. All performances are at 7:00 p.m.

·  Matinee show for elementary students, and afternoon show for IHMS – April 29

·  Auditions: November 3 for 8th graders. November 5 for 7th graders.

·  Rehearsals begin after Winter Break. (week of January 6) Rehearsals are Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 3:50 until 5:00 p.m. However, only the leading roles will be called 3 to 4 days a week. Most students are called 2 days a week. After Spring Break, more cast members will be called as we get closer to our production dates.

As you well know, rehearsals are extremely important to the success of any show. Here are some common sense rules, which will help make rehearsals efficient, productive, and fun for everyone:

1.  Be on time for every rehearsal. The show waits for no one.

2.  Always bring a pencil (not a pen) to rehearsals to note the blocking in your script.

3.  Nothing is permitted to distract from the rehearsals. Rehearsal is a time for work.

4.  No CHEWING GUM is allowed during on stage rehearsals.

·  Cast members are required to be at ALL rehearsals for which they are scheduled and ALL shows. Only those cast members who are needed are called to rehearsals. If you miss rehearsal, you have missed out on learning your part.

·  If an absence is necessary, in case of illness or emergency, three absences are allowed. Those missing more than three rehearsals may not be able to participate.

·  Cast members may not leave rehearsal early unless cleared with the director.

·  Rehearsals begin in January and are scheduled weekly. Information on rehearsals can be found on the morning announcements, posted outside of the library, posted outside of room 26, and on the IHMS website under Web Back Pack—Cheryl Hodges-Thrutchley, musical.

·  Rehearsals will not be an excuse for unfinished homework or not being prepared for any class.

PARENT/GUARDIAN INVOLVEMENT

Parent/Guardian support is essential to the success of our production. Once the show is cast, an informational meeting will be announced for parents with students in the musical.

Behavior Contract

Rehearsal and Performance Guidelines

·  Respect for Directors, parent helpers, and student director is expected at all times.

·  Avoid unnecessary noise and distractions during rehearsals and performances.

·  Stay in designated areas. Students may not leave the rehearsal area at any time during rehearsals or performances. (This includes breaks)

·  Be respectful of the facility and equipment. Do not touch a prop unless directed to do so, avoid touching ropes or curtains backstage.

·  Make SURE to leave the area as clean as it was when you arrived. Clean up any garbage from snacks, properly put costumes and props away at the end of each rehearsal.

·  Behave in a professional manner:

a.  Attend all rehearsals and performances unless you are ill.

b.  Be on time.

c.  Be prepared with scripts and a pencil.

Consequences

1. Adult in charge will talk with the individual student about his/her misbehavior.

2. Adult in charge will call the parent and explain the misbehavior of the student.

3. Director will talk with student (if warranted), and dismissal from the show may result.

Parent Information

I realize that if my child is chosen for the cast, I will be responsible to make sure he/she attends every rehearsal and every performance for which he/she is scheduled. In case of illness, I will notify the director in advance. In order to insure the quality of rehearsals and shows, I understand that three or more absences may result in dismissal from the show, and that all rehearsals in April especially rehearsals 2 weeks before our show opening (April 20 - May 02) are mandatory.

AUDITIONING IS EASY

1. Please sign up for an audition outside of room 26.

Complete the audition form. including student and parent/guardian signatures , and bring it with you to your audition in the vocal music room (113) on November 3th, and/or 5h.

2. The auditions are scheduled to last until 6:30 each night, but you may leave when you are finished by exiting out the doors of the MPR.

3. Those who are auditioning should prepare a song of their choice. If you wish to be seriously considered for a role, you must sing it from memory. Broadway or Disney tunes, not pop songs, are preferable. Pick a song that shows off your singing and acting skills.

AUDITION TIPS

·  Go to www.mtishows.com Click on the Legally Blonde, Jr. and scroll down to hear excerpts from the musical, and look at the casting of characters.

·  Keep your song limited to one minute or less. 16 TO 32 Bars of music is normal.

·  In most cases an upbeat song is best. Show energy and enthusiasm!

·  Costumes and props are discouraged. The directors want to see you at your best.

·  Practice your song in front of a mirror, or family member until you are comfortable enough to perform.

·  Confidence is key! If you are not a singer, that’s okay! Give the directors a show and win them over.

·  Directors want actors who will look comfortable on stage. Be sure to smile and convey big energy to communicate your ability.

CALL BACKS

·  If a student is asked to come to callbacks. It is so the directors can hear them sing and/or read again. It does not guarantee a part in the musical. They may leave earlier than 6:30 if the directors have finished hearing everyone.

·  Callback auditions will be held in the band/vocal room on November 12 and 13th, also from 3:50-6:30. If you are not called back, it does not mean that you are not in the show.

FEATURED DANCER AUDITIONS

For those interested in being featured dancers, our choreographer will audition dancers on Monday, Nov. 10. Students should wear clothing to move in, this audition should be finished by 5:30 p.m. Dancers should also attend the vocal music auditions.
