Victoria showed us the trophy that Victoria and TRAC had
won, from University of Glamorgan.
Sandy chaired the meeting and Nigel co-chaired.
3 Conferences.
Victoria and Joyce went to a conference in Bangor
to look at researching with people with learning disability.
This was the first time they had a conferences that
Involved people with a learning disability.
There were about 35 people with learning disability there.
4. Research.
Forgotten voices Victoria has been trying to get in touch with Ashleigh. There seems to be a lot of people trying to do the same thing.
Chris O Connell has said we could have a look around Llanfrechfra grange if we would like to go. Liz will find out how many people are able to go.
5 Teaching Nurses.
Lynne felt it went all right.
Phil said it very good.
Lorraine it went very well.
It was a new experience for the other members of Torfaen.
6, planning training about making information
accessible.
The whole training pack should soon be able to be free to download.
7. Daniel’s Project.
My Healthcare Passport. Some units are not that happy about using the healthcare passport. All wards know where the booklet is.
Daniel works for a big health service. In England they don’t have health boards. Daniel supports doctors and nurses work better with people with learning disability.
In England they have liaison nurses, these are learning disability nurses who support the hospitals to work better with People with learning disability.
In England Mencap had all the hospitals to sign up to the healthcare passport.
Victoria asked the groups to keep sending things in.
Daniel spoke about Participatory Action Research project which is like our Inclusive research project.
· 3 types of research.
· Asking question.
· Testing something out and watching to find out the
answer.
· Involving everyone in the project.
Daniel is trying to find out how to do research in the some way as us about how to use the healthcare passports and how to know if it is working.
We told Daniel about our research project and how people with a learning disability are involved all the way through.
Daniel asked TRAC for their advice about how he can get people involved.
Lorraine asked if we could pay a visit to Daniel hospital in
Kent
7. Website update.
Victoria asked the group to keep sending thing in.
8. Any other business.
Photosymbols have produced some research
symbols.
Rob and Neil came to say congratulations on the trophy
that has been awarded.
