Requirements of 7 Rivers Figure Skating Club Membership

Skating Year 2016-2017

As a skating family, there are some basic requirements in which all members need to be involved to make our club enjoyable and successful.

7 Rivers Figure Skating Club (7RFSC) is an organization run exclusively by volunteers. There are no paid staff members. If club families did not contribute their time and talents, we could not provide quality services. It takes everyone to help provide an optimal skating environment for each skater. Therefore, parents and families of skaters must participate in the following club activities:

Service Hours

· Each family must provide a minimum of four hours of help for the Ice Show during the winter session. One hour may be done in the form of a donation (raffle items, concession stand, etc. when pre-approved.) Bake sale items are NOT included. Families may opt out of service hours by paying $25.00 per hour for the hours required or $100 for the Show (winter) session.

· Additionally, each family SHOULD contribute two hours of service time per session (fall, spring) in addition to helping with the ice show. (Coaches and Associate club members are not required to participate in service hours but must help with the ice show if participating.)

Hours will be tracked during the Show (winter) session and uncompleted hours will be billed at the end of the session. Please record all of your service hours in the volunteer activity binder at the Sparta and Tomah rinks (see the Rink Monitor).

Some examples of service hours include, but are not limited to:

· Front Desk Attendant/Welcome table

· Rink Monitor

· Play music for Freestyle skater sessions

· Walk in parade or participate in other PR events

· Apply stickers to record books

· Cleaning lobby, skating rooms, bathrooms, or bleachers

· Sewing costumes for the ice show

· Making decorations/sets as part of a committee

· Coordinating activities such as fundraisers, or social events

· Committee work assignments (committee chair will report activities)

· Work during the Ice Show

· Other opportunities as noted on announcement white board and via email and/or newsletter

Fundraising

7RFSC tries to offer at least one fundraising opportunity to club members each skating session. This is done in an attempt to defray some of the costs and make skating a more affordable activity for participants. Fundraisers differ year to year since the Fundraising Committee listens to and tries to accommodate skating family preferences.

· Each family of a Basic skills, Associate and/or Full Freestyle member is required to raise $50.00 in fundraising profit for each session they skate, or $150.00 annually.

· 7 RFSC offers an “opt-out” option for members who do not wish to participate in fundraising activities.

· Members wishing to opt-out should notify the Fundraising Committee chair and can choose to opt-out of an individual session or annually.

· Fundraising beyond the annual requirement of $150.00 accrues. At the point where an additional $50.00 profit has been raised, member families have two options:

o Option 1 – receive a skating credit of $15.00 to be applied to a future skating session

o Option 2 – receive two free 30 minute ice time punch cards to be utilized during a future session

If family requirements (service hour or fundraising) are not met, the monetary difference will be due and payable before the member can participate in USFSA sanctioned activities as a member of 7 Rivers Figure Skating Club.

Members will be notified at the end of each session the status of their service hours and fundraising activities.

Acknowledgement of receipt of this document is included on the 7RFSC Waiver/Release form.
