RULES & REGULATIONS
(1)Dogs entered at Kennel Club licensed agility shows must be registered at the Kennel Club in accordance with the Kennel Club regulations for classification and registration B. The registration number/Authority to Compete number will be required for each entry.
(2)Entry fees:- £2.30 per dog per class. Working Otley Dog Training Society Members £1.00 per dog per class.
(3)No monetary prizes are on offer.
(4)The Committee of Otley DTS reserves the right to refuse entries.
(5)Only dogs of 18 calendar months of age or over on the first day of the show are eligible for competition at Kennel Club licensed agility tests.
(6)Not for competition (NFC) entries will be accepted for dogs aged four calendar months or over. Details of each dog entered must be recorded on the entry form. There will be no entry fee for these dogs.
(7)The mating of bitches within the precincts of the show is forbidden.
(8)No bitch in season is allowed to compete.
(9)No person shall carry out punitive correction or harsh handling of a dog at any time within the boundaries of the show.
(10)Dogs must not wear any type of slip, half-slip collar or lead when under test. A flat, close fitting, leather or webbing collar is permitted, providing the only attachment is a plain identification panel as an integral part of the collar, i.e. not attached by a ring.
(11)Should a judge be unable to fulfil the appointment to judge, the Committee reserves the right to appoint another judge. Additional judges will be appointed if necessary.
(12)No competitor shall impugn the decision of the judge or judges.
(13)Sponsors for the show are listed under Schedule of Classes and Awards (Page 2).
(14)Kennel Club standard marking will apply as published in the Kennel Club Year Book in use at the time of the show.
(15)Jump height for Large dogs will be 65cm. Jump height for Medium dogs will be 45cm.
(16)Competition for Large Dogs:
Those dogs eligible to compete in competitions for Large dogs are those measuring over 43cm at the withers.
(17)Competition for Medium Dogs:
Those dogs eligible to compete in competitions for Medium dogs are those measuring over 35cm and measuring 43cm or under at the withers.
(18)A judge at an agility test may not enter for competition a dog which is recorded in their ownership or part ownership; or handle a dog at the Test at which they are judging.
(19)Withdrawal of dogs from the test:
A dog shall be withdrawn from competition and removed from the test if it is:
- A bitch in season.
- Suffering from any infectious or contagious diseases.
- Interfering with the safety or chance of winning of an opponent.
- Of such temperament or is so much out of hand as to be a danger to the safety of any person or animal.
- Likely to cause suffering to the dog if it continues competing.
(20)In estimating the number of awards won, all wins up to and including 7 days before the date of closing of entries shall be counted when entering for any class: - 20th May 2007.
(21)It is the competitor’s responsibility to be available for their class and running order.
(22)Handlers working more than one dog in a class must ensure that the dogs compete in the sequence in which they were drawn. Failure to do so may result in elimination.
(23)Dogs are limited to a maximum of four classes plus 1 team event.
(24)Should circumstances so dictate the society, in consultation with the judges may alter arrangements as necessary. Such changes and the circumstances surrounding them must be reported to the Kennel Club.
(25)A dog must at the time of entry for the competition be registered as required by the Kennel Club Rules and Regulations in the competitor’s name (or registration or transfer applied for). In the case of a partnership the full name of every partner must be given. In the case of dogs recorded as owned by a Ltd company, the directors and the secretary of the Ltd company will jointly be considered as the competitor for the purpose of the regulations. A dog acquired subsequent to entry having been made at a competition may compete as the new owner’s property provided that an application for the transfer has been forwarded to the Kennel Club before the competition, and the new owner has undertaken to abide by the regulations and conditions of the original entry form.
(26)No animal, other than one officially entered, shall be brought into the precincts of the event during its continuance, except a registered guide dog for the blind or a hearing dog for the deaf, or dogs required for educational or instructional purposes or by permission of the General Committee.
(27)All dogs resident outside the UK must be issued with a Kennel Club Authority To Compete number before entry to the show can be made. All overseas entries without an Authority To Compete number will be returned to the competitor.
(28)No dogs suffering from infectious or contagious disease or having been exposed to such disease during the period of 21 days prior to the Competition may compete. Competitors infringing the Regulation will be liable to be fined and/or dealt with under Kennel Club Rule A42.
(29)A Pay on the Day class will be held, if time permits.
(30)A practice ring will be available, if space allows.
(31)Food shall not be carried in the hand or given to a dog in the ring.
(32)Separate entry forms must be completed by each Competitor and must be signed by the Competitor or his authorised agent in accordance with the provisions specified thereon. Entry forms must be accompanied with the appropriate fees.
(33)Normal rules apply during test but in addition, poop-a-scoops must be used at all times in all areas of the showground, including the marked exercise area. Failure to comply could result in elimination from the event.
(34)The judges decision will be final and no competitor will be allowed to influence that in any way. The show committee will stand by the judges decision in all cases
(35)In the event of circumstances making it necessary that the show is cancelled, Otley Dog Training Society reserve unto themselves the right to defray expenses incurred by deducting such expenses from the entry fees received.
(36)All dogs are entered at their owners risk and whilst every care will be taken to validate the safety of all aspects of the show, Otley Dog Training Society will not accept responsibility for the loss, damage or injury to dogs, property or persons.
(37)No refunds will be given in the event of incorrect monies being submitted, it is the competitors responsibility to check the paperwork before submission.
(38) With reference to dogs entered Not For Competition (NFC) as per rule 6, these dogs are entered on the understanding that they are not entitled to compete in any class scheduled at this Agility Test.
STANDARD CLASSES
Only first prizes and points gained in standard classes at Kennel Club licensed Agility Shows may be used for progression through the classes. (A dog is only eligible for one grade).
Grade 1 (Elementary)
For owners, handlers or dogs which have not gained a first place in an Agility Class or three first places in Jumping Classes at Kennel Club licensed Agility Shows. N.B. Owners, handlers or dogs previously qualified out of Grade 1, (Elementary) are not eligible for this class.
Grade 2 (Starters)
For owners, handlers or dogs which have qualified out of Grade 1 but have not gained a first place in an Agility Class or three first places in Jumping Classes at Grade 2 at Kennel Club licensed Agility Shows, or elected to progress on points from Grade 1. N.B. Owners, handlers or dogs previously qualified out of Grade 2 (Starters) are not eligible for this class.
Grade 3 (Graduate)
Open to dogs which are not eligible for Grade 1 or 2 or have elected to progress on points from Grade 2 at Kennel Club licensed Agility Shows and dogs which are not eligible for Grade 4, 5, 6 or 7.
Grade 4 (Novice)
Open to dogs which have gained a first place in an Agility Class or three first places in Jumping Classes at Grade 3 or elected to progress on points from Grade 3 at Kennel Club licensed Agility Shows and are not eligible for Grade 3, 5, 6 or 7.
Grade 5 (Intermediate)
Open to dogs which have gained a first place in an Agility Class or three first places
in Jumping Classes at Grade 4 or elected to progress on points from Grade 4 at Kennel Club licensed Agility Shows and are not eligible for Grade 3, 4, 6 or 7.
Grade 6 (Senior)
Open to dogs which have gained a first place in an Agility Class or three first places in Jumping Classes at Grade 5 at Kennel Club licensed Agility Shows and are not eligible for Grade 3, 4, 5 or 7.
Grade 7 (Advanced)
Open to dogs which have gained a minimum of 4 first places at Grade 6 at Kennel Club Licensed Agility Shows, 2 first places must be gained in Agility (not Jumping) Classes.

Rosettes to 6th place (4 per team).
1st place: £10 voucher each person (£40 per team).
2nd & 3rd place: £5 voucher each (£20 per team).
THE KENNEL CLUB OLYMPIA LARGE DOG ABC AGILITY STAKES
Supported by Newton Heath DTC and Pedigree
Rosettes 1st to 10th place.
Trophies for 1st place given in all individual classes. Trophies to 2nd or 3rd place, dependent on size of class entry.
Rosettes to minimum of 10% of entry in each class.
(In sponsored classes, rosettes will be made up to 10% with Otley DTS rosettes, if required.)

The Kennel Club Olympia ABC Agility Stakes*
2007/8 RULES

1The Kennel Club Olympia ABC Agility Stakes is a special agility competition to be run under Kennel Club Rules and Regulations H for Large dogs.
2The competition is open to all grades of dogs (1 – 7) excludingBorder Collies, Working Sheepdogs and their crosses. (Any Breeds but Collies). In the event of dispute, the judge’s decision will be final.
3The first four dogs of each heat will qualify for the semi-final. The next best placed dogs at a heat will be deemed to be reserves should a qualified dog be unable to attend the semi-final. Reserves from heats will be invited to attend the semi-final up to and including the closing date of the NHDTC Show June Show. After the closing date NO reserves will be called even if other qualifiers have to retire / withdraw.
4Dogs that have already qualified for the semi-final may enter further heats for competition.
5Those dogs eligible to compete in the semi-final shall be the four best-placed dogs in each heat that have not previously qualified.
6A handler may qualify more than one dog for the semi-final but may only compete with one dog at the final.
7The semi-final will be held at the annual Newton Heath DTC agility show held in June. The final to be held at Olympia in December. Any alteration will be publicised.
8Owners, handlers and dogs who enter the heats or attend the semi-final will be deemed to have accepted the Rules and Regulations of the competition and the organising show.
9The organisers, Newton Heath DTC and the Kennel Club, in agreement, reserve the right to alter these Rules and Regulations at their discretion.
PEDIGREE LARGE DOGTEAM RELAY
This is an agility competition and must include at least two items of contact equipment. All teams must consist of four dogs with separate handlers. Any number of teams from clubs may compete in heats, but only one team from each club may qualify for the final.
This competition will be classified as a combined class for Grades 1 to 7.
This is a team relay event and a suitable baton should be used which must remain behind the start line at all times. When the dog/handler returns to the start/finish, there will be a baton change between the handlers. No part of the next dog/handler must be over the start line; failure to observe this will incur a penalty of twenty faults. The winning team from each heat will qualify for the final. Ten teams will compete in the final.
Dogs eligible to compete in competition for Large dogs are those measuring over 430 mm (1 foot 5 inches) at the withers.
Handlers may compete in more than one team for the same club; however, they must handle a different dog in each team. Once a club has qualified a team for the final, that club can continue to compete for competition in any remaining heats for that year. Once a handler/ dog has qualified for the final of this event, he/she may not compete in any more of the heats for competition in the same year. Only handlers and dogs that are members of the original team, or named as reserves on the entry form, will be allowed to compete in the final at the organiser’s discretion (exceptional circumstances).
Burns Adams Derby Rules
1. This class must be judged under the appropriate Kennel Club rules in force at the time of the competition.
2. All competitors entering the class will be deemed to have agreed to abide by the rules of the Kennel Club and the specific regulations governing this class.
3. The competition is open to Kennel Club registered dogs eligible to compete at large height grades 4 and 5 only.
4. Handlers may enter more than one dog in the competition and may qualify more than one dog for the final event.
5. Once a dog has qualified for the final it may not enter any further heats except as a not for competition entry. Handlers running not for competition with a previously qualified dog must report this fact to the appropriate Show Secretary before running in the class.
6. The first four dogs from each heat will be invited to compete in the final.
7. The next four dogs from each heat will be held as reserves.
8. In the event of a dog being unable to compete in the final due to unavailability, illness or injury the reserves from that heat will be called up in numerical order.
9. In the event of a handler being unable to compete in a heat due to illness or injury a substitute handler for the qualifying dog will be allowed to run the dog.
10. The first section of the competition will contain the following pieces of equipment: A Frame, Dogwalk, Seesaw, a rising spread jump and a long jump. The placement of these obstacles is at the Judges discretion.
11. The first section is un-timed and dogs must successfully complete this section without faults before proceeding to the second section of the competition. Dogs with faults will not be allowed to proceed to the second section.
12. The second section is timed and will contain no more than fourteen but no less than twelve single pole hurdles plus a set of twelve weaves. The placement of these obstacles is at the Judges discretion.
13. Handlers are not allowed to touch their dogs between the separate elements of the first section but may touch their dogs between the first and second sections of the competition.
14. The object of the competition is to complete the control section of the class successfully before competing, against the clock, on a jumping course. The winner and subsequent places will be decided on the fastest time with least faults over the second section of the course.
15. Dogs will run under the new heights regulations.
