PUBLIC FY16 BUDGET HEARING

I. Roll Call: Christy Cameron, Jason Coffman, Sharon Elwood, Misty Johannes, Lisa Palazzolo, and Kyla White. Also present: Matt Renaud, Sue Borger, Angie Hart, Erica Hyde, and Kristin Ellis. Time noted 6:03 p.m.

REGULARSCHOOL BOARD MEETING

I. Roll Call: Christy Cameron, Jason Coffman, Sharon Elwood, Misty Johannes, Lisa Palazzolo, and Kyla White. Also present: Matt Renaud, Sue Borger, Angie Hart, Erica Hyde, Kristin Ellis and Sara Hanks.Time noted 6:15 p.m.

II. Recognition of Visitors/Public Participation

A. REA representative Angie Hart reported on scheduling of Parent/Teacher conferences, Fall Festival, Trunk or Treat, new playground equipment, Grandparents Day, Family Engagement Night, and appreciation for the new music teacher.

B. PTO representative Kyla White reported on the Fall Festival and Trunk or Treat.

III. Approved the consent agenda with the additional bills. Motion by Cameron. Second by White. Aye votes by roll: Cameron, Coffman, Elwood, Johannes, Palazzolo, and White. Motion carried.

IV. Old Business

B. Approved the FY 16 Budget. Motion by Cameron. Second by Elwood. Aye votes by roll: Cameron, Coffman, Elwood, Johannes, Palazzolo, and White. Motion carried.

C. Approval of the policy committee’s recommendations to open selected closed session minutes. Motion by White. Seconded by Cameron.Aye votes by roll: Cameron, Coffman, Elwood, Johannes, Palazzolo, and White. Motion carried.

VIII. New Business

A. Approve FY15 audit report. Motion by White. Seconded by Cameron. Aye votes by roll: Cameron, Coffman, Elwood, Johannes, Palazzolo, and White. Motion carried.

B. Approve the Application for Recognition of Schools. Motion by Elwood. Second by White. Aye votes by roll: Cameron, Coffman, Elwood, Johannes, Palazzolo, and White. Motion carried.

C. Discussion of school board retreat. The date chosen is October 21, 2015 from 6-9:00 p.m.

D. Accept the resignation of Taylor McKinzie as girl’s basketball coach. Motion White. Second by Elwood. Aye votes by roll: Cameron, Coffman, Elwood, Johannes, Palazzolo and White. Motion carried.

IX. Superintendent’s report. Mr. Renaud reported: Several fifth grade girls are publishing a school newspaper every 2 weeks, staff morale has been great, Parent/Teacher conferences are being scheduled by the teachers, Family Engagement Night/Open House on Sept. 30 will involve food, fun, and family awareness break out sessions. The primary teachers are instituting a program called Families First on Friday which will involve round table discussions involving family and educational topics. Parents are invited to attend. Grandparents Day was well attended. The kitchen equipment grant award of $18402.00 will be spent on a new serving table, 10 burner stove with ovens, garbage disposer, and walk-in freezer.

X. Adjourn to closed session to discuss the appointment, compensation, discipline, performance, or dismissal of specific employees of the district or legal counsel for the district, including hearing testimony on a complaint lodged against an employee. Specifically, the board will discuss the employment of a cheer coach and a basketball coach. Contract negotiations will be discussed. Motion by Cameron. Second by Coffman. Aye votes by roll: Cameron, Coffman, Elwood, Johannes,Palazzolo, and White. Motion carried. Time noted 7:15 p.m.

XI. Reconvene to open session. Motion by White. Second by Coffman. Aye votes by roll: Cameron, Coffman, Elwood, Johannes, Palazzolo, and White. Motion carried. Time noted 8:35 p.m.

XII. Approval of closed session minutes. Motion by Cameron. Second by Coffman. Aye votes by roll: Cameron, Coffman, Elwood, Johannes, Palazzolo, and White. Motion carried.

XIII. Approval to hire Morgan Belcher as cheer coach for the 2015-2016 school year. Motion by White. Second by Cameron. Aye votes by roll: Cameron, Coffman, Elwood, Johannes, Palazzolo, and White. Motion carried.

XIV. Approval to hire Kristin Ellis as girl’s basketball coach for the 2015-2016 school year. Motion by Elwood. Second by White. Aye votes by roll: Cameron, Coffman, Elwood, Johannes, Palazzolo, and White. Motion carried.
