Job Description
Role and Responsibilities:
BID ADMINISTRATION
  • Communicate effectively with clients, internal project teams, sub-contractors, and suppliers when maintaining the status of plan reproduction.
  • Material take-offs from drawings and specifications to produce detailed, well presented estimates
  • Works with the sales team to prepare offers that align with company goals.
  • Assume responsibility for all aspects of a profitable, competitive, and accurate tender as well as transmitting addenda/ other bid information to fellow subcontractors.
  • Meets 100% of bids and budgets by the deadline- no exceptions.
  • Places bids on CRM.
PROJECT KNOWLEDGE
  • Has an adequate understanding of the scope of products and work being performed.
  • Optimizes job costs by negotiating prices with vendors/sub-contractors through quotations for materials/services.
  • Minimize exclusions by “doing our homework”
FOLLOW UP AND CLOSING
  • Updates and keeps the Controls Estimating Board on track.
  • Review requirements thoroughly and asks follow up questions on every bid.
PROJECT TURNOVER
  • Review drawings with Project Management team and highlight areas of concern.
  • Review job cost with Project Management team and highlight any subs/ material vendors that still need to be awarded.
Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of the construction industry.
  • Mechanical, Plumbing or HVAC knowledge is preferred
  • Knowledge of Controls/ electrical field
  • Experience with Accubid estimating software.
  • Have industry supplier contacts and relationships.
Education:
  • CET or a Trade Apprenticeship (e.g. Plumbing, HVAC, Electrical, Controls, Instrumentation, Etc.) is required.
  • AutoCAD and LEED certification or experience is preferred.
  • Completed estimating course is preferred.
Preferred Skills:
  • Ability to determine construction labour productivity factors, wage rates, indirect field costs, and project adjustment factors.
  • Ability to interpret Blueprints and specification readings.
