2016 ANNUAL POTA CONFERENCE

Lancaster County Convention Center, Lancaster Marriott, Lancaster, PA October 14-15, 2016

Proposal deadline: March 31, 2016

POTA invites you to share your knowledge and experiences by submitting a proposal to present at the 39th Annual POTA Conference in Lancaster, PA. Proposals can be submitted at any time until midnight March 31, 2016

For each proposal submitted, you will be asked to choose from one of the following session types:

50 min. & 1 hour 50 min. Sessions

This level of session allows for presentation of scientific/technical information that is usually in lecture format but may involve other teaching methods.

Institute (2 hour 50 min.)

This level of session provides an in-depth exchange of professional information. This session should include a variety of teaching methods and opportunities for audience participation.

Poster Session

The Poster Session allows for a visual presentation of scientific/technical information. NOTE: At least 1 presenter is required to be present at the interactive component of the Poster Session.

Title

8 words or less.

Content Focus

Children & Youth; Education/Fieldwork; Emerging Practice; General; Health & Wellness; Mental Health; Productive Aging; Rehab & Disability; Research; Work & Industry

Abstract

The abstract (40 words or less) is printed in the program and should articulate the purpose and content of the session.

Program Description/Learning Objectives/References

The program description is a well written, well organized narrative which includes the purpose, intent, methods, content of the presentation. The Program Description should be 300 words or less. Two or three Learning Objectives which are clear, behavioral, and relevant to occupational therapy are required. Learning objectives describe the knowledge and/or skills participants will acquire as a result of attending the session. References should be current and support the information presented in the Program Description. References should be cited within the text. Reference bibliography is not included in the 300 word count and will be listed in a separate reference box.

NOTE: No author names or any type of identifying information should appear in the program description

Primary Speaker Qualifications/Short Bio

The Primary Speaker Qualifications/Short Bio provides describes the experience and expertise of this speaker in presenting this information

All proposals will be peer reviewed. Proposals that meet the submission requirements outlined above will be given priority review. Proposals that do not meet the submission requirements will not be reviewed.Review will consider the following:

  • Organization (objectives are clearly stated, overall plan is clear, concise and logical)
  • Content (based on acceptable concepts of practice, education, research and/or theory)
  • Appeal (timely and recommend proposal's inclusion in this year's program)

Neither names nor affiliations are provided to the reviewers. All submissions are given equal opportunity, and names of both submitter and reviewer remain anonymous. Written notification of proposal acceptance or rejection will be providedby the end of May, 2016.

Important notes:

  1. Proposals submitted by a student must include a faculty mentor/co-presenter.
  2. As per POTA policy, all speakers must register for conference. Speakers are eligible to receive reduced conference registration fees as follows:
  • For a 50 minute Short Presentation: 2 presenters are eligible for a reduced registration
  • For a 1 hour, 50 minute Presentation: 2 presenters are eligible for a reduced registration
  • For a 2 hour, 50 minute Presentation: 3 presenters are eligible for a reduced registration
  • For a posterpresentation, 2 presenters are eligible for a reduced registration

POTA will provide the following AV:

  • POTA will provide a screen and LCD projector for presentation sessions
  • Presenters must provide their own laptop computer
  • No audio equipment is provided
