The Regular Meeting of the Johnsonburg Area School District Board of Educationwas held Thursday,November 12, 2015beginning at 7:00 PM. Directors in attendance were D. Allegretto, C. Dunworth, T. Fannin, S. Grunthaner, S. Launer,R. Paladino,B. Thorwart,R. Warmbrodt, and R. Wolfe. Administrators in attendance were D. Crotzer, J. Hobbs, B. Benson, and K. Wolfe. L. Mahoney, Board Secretary andP. Calkins, Board Treasurerwere in attendance as well as Solicitor Rick Brown. Media was represented by theJohnsonburg Press and theRidgway Record.
Beginning at 6:10 PM, the board heard brief presentations from the varsity volleyball coach and the varsity girls’ tennis coach. Agenda review was held at 6:30 PM. Following agenda review,members of the Band Boosters asked the board to consider approval for their request for a band trip to Florida.
Public Comment began at 6:45 PM. Community members were in attendance to request information in regard to various school topics. At 7:00PM, President Paladino called theregular meeting to order followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.
Allegretto moves seconded byThorwartto approve the minutes from the regular meeting held on October 08, 2015 and two special meetings held on October 27, 2015 and November 03, 2015as presented. All vote yes. Motion carried.
Warmbrodtmoves seconded by Allegrettoto approve theTreasurer’s Report for General Fund including Disbursements and Revenue for09/15as presented. All vote yes. Motion carried. (Copy inserted in supplemental minute book.)
Allegrettomoves seconded by Warmbrodtto approve the High School Activity Account for 09/15, the High School Athletic Account for 09/15,the Elementary Activity Account for 09/15 and the Cafeteria Account for 09/15as presented. At approximately 7:03 PM, the board entered into executive session for matters of personnel, employment and collective bargaining. At 7:42 PM, the regular meeting was called back to order.

Boys’ Basketball: Zane Hodgdon, Matt Shuey, Greg Singer, Bill Bliss, Christian Cherry, and Russ Myers
Girls’ Basketball: Emily Mitchell and Bekka Leitzel
Wrestling: Bart Nelson, Dylan Nelson, Eric Iorfido, Quinton O’Rourke, and Alex Zimmerman

Agenda Item 6: Homebound Instructor: Allegretto moves seconded by Launer
to approve Ms. Amber McAdoo to provide homebound instruction to Johnsonburg Area School District students attending IOP, on an as needed basis, at a rate of $23.00 per hour, for up to 5 hours per week, pending completion of the necessary paperwork.Roll Call Vote: Allegretto, Dunworth, Fannin, Grunthaner, Launer, Paladino, Thorwart, Warmbrodt, and Wolfe vote yes. Motion carried.

Agenda Item 7: Unpaid Leave: Launer moves seconded by Dunworth to approve the request from Mrs. Kristine Breindel for an unpaid leave of absence for a maximum of four days. Roll Call Vote: Allegretto, Dunworth, Fannin, Grunthaner, Launer, Paladino, Thorwart, Warmbrodt, and Wolfe vote yes. Motion carried.
Agenda Item 8: Bus Drivers: Launer moves seconded by Thorwart to add Mr. Jerome Brendel and Mr. Dennis Asti to the certified bus driver list for the 2015 – 2016 School Year, pending completion of the necessary paperwork. All vote yes. Motion carried.
Agenda Item 9: Secondary Social Studies: Allegretto moves seconded by Thorwart to hire Mr. Joseph Mahoney as secondary social studies teacher at a salary of $42,600.00, Step 2 Masters, and benefits as stated in the teacher’s contract, effective November 13, 2015, pending completion of the necessary paperwork.Roll Call Vote: Allegretto, Dunworth, Fannin, Grunthaner, Launer, Paladino, Thorwart, Warmbrodt, and Wolfe vote yes. Motion carried.
Agenda Item 10: Pre-K Aide: Dunworth moves seconded by Allegretto to hire Ms. Tracey Feronti as an instructional aide in the pre-k classroom at $10.33 per hour and benefits as stated in the support staff contract, effective November 13, 2015, pending completion of the necessary paperwork. Roll Call Vote: Allegretto, Dunworth, Fannin, Grunthaner, Launer, Paladino, Thorwart, Warmbrodt, and Wolfe vote yes. Motion carried.
B.Education and School Activities
Agenda Item 1:Bids: Allegretto moves seconded by Launer to grant permission to bid equipment and supplies for the 2016 – 2017 School Year. All vote yes. Motion carried.
Agenda Item 2: PDE Index Rate: Launer moves seconded by Wolfe to not raise taxes above the PDE index rate for the 2016 – 2017 School Year. Roll Call Vote: Allegretto, Dunworth, Fannin, Grunthaner, Launer, Paladino, Thorwart, Warmbrodt, and Wolfe vote no. Motion does not carry. (Copy inserted in supplemental minute book.)

Agenda Item 6: Band Booster Request: Dunworth moves seconded by Grunthaner to approve the request from the Band Boosters for students to travel to Florida from February 9 through February 15, 2016, at no cost to the district. Roll Call Vote: Allegretto, Dunworth, Fannin, Grunthaner, Launer, Thorwart, and Warmbrodt vote yes. Paladino and Wolfe vote no. Vote Tally: 7 – YES and 2 – NO. Motion carried.
At 8:05 PM Warmbrodt moves seconded by Allegrettoto adjourn the meeting. All vote yes. Motion carried.
