RMHS Class of 1950 Scholarship
Scholarship Procedures and Criteria
1. Scholarship award is open to graduating seniors of Rocky Mount High who meet the prescribed items 3a through 3e below.
2. Scholarship winner will be selected by the RMHS Awards Committee, subject to the approval of the Principal. The award amount will be $1000 per award, and 1 Senior will be selected from the class of 2015, 2016, & 2017. 2017 is scheduled to be the last award. Any descendants of a member of the RMHS Class of 1950 are given priority consideration, be sure to include this fact in your application if it applies to you.
3. Candidates for scholarship awards must meet the following criteria and application should include:
- Applicant must be accepted to an accredited four year institution of higher learning or community college for the next school year. Please submit letter of acceptance.
- Be a graduating senior of Rocky Mount High School.
- Student should have excellent citizenship and good academic scholarship. Submit a personal statement describing your excellence in achievement and citizenship. Be sure to include information about your school and/or community activities (e.g., student government, honor society, sports clubs, church, volunteer work, etc.)
- Include a brief statement regarding your financial need so the committee can better understand your situation.
- A high school transcript will be added to your application after you turn it in to Mr. Curtiss.
4. Disbursement of the award shall be made to the student’s qualifying college, university or community college. Checks will be made payable to the student’s college, university or community college, and shall be applied to the recipient’s legitimate college cost.
