Position Title:SeniorOfficer -Fundraising and Innovation (SOFI)
Reports to:DeputyDirector, Program Development and Monitoring Unit
I.Major Responsibility: Working under the direct supervision of the DeputyDirector, Program Development and Monitoring Unit,SOFIwill play a key role in helping diversify WWF Nepal’s fundraisingportfolio. S/he will workin close coordination with other departments, field programs and partners to develop concept notes and proposals that are innovative and resonant with emerging funding trends. Donor interfacein effect will constitute a major part of the job.His/her responsibility shall include substantial time spent at WWF Nepal’s field project locations to interact with projectmanagers and communities to tap project development opportunities.
II.Major Duties:
- Donor Interface
Support the development and implementation ofthe fundraising and donor engagement strategy in line with national concerns and WWF Global Goal priorities. Make presentations to visiting donors on program needs and WWF Nepal’s activities, particularly on their area of funding, and increase existing and potential donor engagement in WWF Nepal’s programs.
- International engagement
Retain an updated list encompassing priorities and funding cycles of all existing and potential donors including WWF Network offices and share with the concerned staffs. Keep track of relevant proposal calls by GAAs, Foundations and other donors and respond timely in close consultation with the program staff. Regularly communicate with the focal points of major donors, GAAs and Foundations on upcoming funding opportunities.
- Support fundraising
Keep abreast of new developments in the network and regularly make use of WWF resources and standards and stay updated on all new developments that would affect WWF Nepal’s program development and fundraising activities. Provision in creating new ideas for branding and marketing to support fundraising when major conservation interventions are carried out by the Field Program Unit.
- Generate innovative concepts through consultative process
Assist the supervisor in reviewing new concepts and provide feedbacks for further development. Ensure use of WWF Nepal funded research outcomes and “adaptive learning” in the concepts and proposals to the extent appropriate.
- Partnership building and coordination
Maintain a list of existing and potential partners to capture their institutional strength in fundraising and leveraging. Assist the supervisor in developing and teaming up agreements with relevant partners and establish working relations by coordinating meetings and workshops on proposal/program development. Handle all logistics including networkingwith relevant people from projects and network offices and document all proceedings for reference.
- Project Development
Develop short term projects in close coordination with monitoring unit on the basis of the WWF Nepal strategic framework through consultative process. Interact constantly with the field managers to capture the learning process and application for adaptive management practices. Complement Program Development and Monitoring unit in all phases of project designing.
- Monitoring designs
Support the monitoring unit to determine milestones and targets that would help to monitor the project based on the strategic plans and logical framework. Capture learning and sharing examples from the review and reflection process.
- Other duties:
Perform other duties as deemed necessary by supervisor.
III.Supervisory Responsibility: Interns and Volunteers and Consultants as and when required.

IV.Working Relationships:
a)Internal: Reports directly to the Deputy Director, Program Development and Monitoring Unit. Interacts frequently with other program and project staff and the Operations Unit staff to coordinate program development and fundraising activities.
b)External: Develops effective communicationswith WWF-network offices,donors (national and international), other conservation organizations and government agencies, consultants, etc.
V.Minimum Work Requirements:
a)Knowledge: A Master’sdegree in a related field is required.(Environmental Science, Management, Marketing)
b)Experience: At least 5 years’ experience is required. Candidates should have an experience in fundraising, marketing/brandingand developing proposals experience.
c)Skills and Abilities: Highly entrepreneurial and focused in the pursuit of WWF's fundraising goals. Excellent communication skills that include technical writing and marketing skills. Proficient in computer programs like MS Word, MS Excel and MS Power Point. The candidate should have good PR skills, should be a self-starter and a good team player.
