Barnyard Olympic Rules & Guidelines
- Clubs may enter more than one team.
- Members may only be on one team.
- Members may participate in more than one event.
- Each team must have an adult leader.
- If your club doesn’t have enough members to make a team, we can put two groups together to form a team.
Barnyard Olympic Events:
3-Legged Race – Team members needed – 8 (4 pairs). The first pair will run down, touch the fence and back with the inside legs tied together and tag the next pair. After each pair has raced, sit down. When all 4 pairs have finished, all of that team (club), whether raced or not sit down. The first team finished wins.
Egg Toss – Team members needed – 4 (2 pairs). Each pair will stand across from each other with the line running east and west. Once you are given your egg you are responsible for it. When it breaks you are out. Tossers on the east side will throw first. Wait for the signal to toss the egg each time. After everyone has thrown their eggs, the catchers take one large step back. The last pair with an egg wins.
Water Brigade – Team members needed - 6. The first runner fills a cup up with water and runs to the jug, pours the water in, runs back and passes the cup to the next runners. Continue through the order again, as needed, until the container is filled. The first team to fill their jug wins.
Tug of War – Team members needed – up to 1,000 pounds. Tug of war participants’ weigh-in on the beef cattle scale at 5:00 p.m. Teams will pull for one minute. The team that has pulled the farthest after one-minute wins. Single elimination until one team is left. No wrapping of the rope around bodies.
Candy Hunt – This game is reserved for all 4-H siblings under age 8. Wrapped candy will be hidden in straw for them to find. Under 5 years old will have a head start. The siblings should stay in the stands until the tug of war is over.
