POSITION SUMMARY:

The MDS Coordinator works collaboratively with the care team to ensure the provision of quality care services. The individual provides MDS education, supervision, audits for accuracy and compliance with timelines and assists in the use of the information to support and improve quality resident care. The individual works collaboratively to improve the performance of individuals, teams and the organization in providing improved customer service for residents, guests and staff.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Current registration with CARNA

Experience completing MDS assessments

Preference given to those who have completed the Canadian Institute of Health Information (CIHI) MDS Educator program.

Strong interpersonal and organizational skills; Demonstrated presentation and teaching skills using Adult Learning principles

  1. Ensures the provision of high quality resident care.

i.)Monitors and evaluates standards of care and practice.

ii.)Acts as a resident advocate.

iii.)Participates in policy/procedure development.

iv.)Participates in facility-wide risk management programs pertaining to resident care, environmental safety, occupational health and safety, and security.

i.)Manages the human resource functions of the hiring and discipline of employees related to MDS function and Nursing process.

ii.)Understands the collective agreements for staff. Participates in the grievance process as appropriate.

iii.)Assesses the competency and capability of staff to perform their assigned tasks.

iv.)Assist with performance appraisal process as related to MDS function and Nursing process.
