Friday, September 2nd, 2016
Meeting called to order at 2:10 PM
- Communications
- SAFC Chairperson Aaron Scheinman
- Welcome back everybody. This is a summer quorum meeting, just so everyone is aware. SAFC business will continue to be run by summer quorum until the new senators and members at large are elected. Revenues are down, so make sure that you make the appropriate budget cuts and changes before the end of the month. We need to know what lines are what.I also want to apologize for any BOX issues, and I hope to clean that up this weekend.
- Senate Speaker Doug: We will be accepting SAFC at-large applications until September 12th.
- Approval of summer quorum members: Sam Parris and Katie Clark.
- Passed unanimously.
- SAFChief Financial Officer Danny O’Leary
- Please check your e-mails and schedule a meeting with me if you have not done that yet.
- SAF Chief Financial Officer Jake Adams
- Trying to set up meetings with BMs to go over BOX. I was hoping to have bi-weekly meetings. Hope everyone has a fantastic year.
- Julie Perron- SAFC Consultant
- I know there has been confusion on new hiring procedure, so please check your e-mails for longer explanation. The short version: new paid members of organizations who have never worked for UNH must fill out the appropriate forms at the OSIL. We need better records this year, due to the new guidelines. Do not send people who have already worked for UNH, for it will cause repercussions for SAFC).
- Nate Hastings Proxy- Coordinator of Student Organizations & Leadership
- Welcome back. If you are not receiving weekly e-mails, please notify me so that you are getting the updates. There will be a mandatory BM meeting soon (emphasis on mandatory). Come join me for coffee to ask questions.
- Organizing Resource Office
- Post Programming/Post Conference Reports
- ISO Jukebox
- BM Lou: We proposed 200 attendants and received 285. We stayed under budget overall, with the exception of food due to having to get a cater from a different source. Had to wait on the price for the banner from printing service, which is why the banner budget is slightly over.
- President John: Good job at drawing in and inviting people to your table.
- Passed with one abstention.
- Programming/Conference Proposals
- ISO U-Day
- BM Lou: We will get a large push pin world map, as well as more stickers.

- Passed with one abstention.
- Programming/Conference Proposals
- CAB Homecoming
- Billy: Given 150th anniversary of the school, we have been working extra hard (five months) to make this special. We will be having a Spirit Week leading up to Homecoming. We will be getting the parade back onto main street, and we are starting a family friendly Fall Fair to attract the community during the parade. We are still in a budget deficit, and this proposal is still the bare skeleton, thus we may have to make cuts in the near future if we cannot get enough funding.
- Aaron: Just to clarify on SAFC reserves: the funds are kept aside for the purpose of special events. SAFC can request a pull from these reserves based on the proper 2/3 vote. There is $30,000 in reserves (not $50,000).
- Lincoln: What amount of SAFC reserve funding would make it so you can do the best job you can?
- Billy: At this point $6,500 will make the current plan a reality.
- Allison: Only seven present people are voting on $6,000?
- Aaron: Yes.
- President John: CAB started planning for Homecoming earlier than any other organization (April 2016). They have been working very hard on this huge collaboration effort. CAB Homecoming is what we the students will be giving to the 150th, and it will be a student kick off for the other 150th activities. I encourage you all to vote in favor of this.
- President John: can you talk about the float grants?
- Billy: Funding a float is often too costly for an organization to pay for on their own, so we hope to provide small funds to help make their float a reality.
- Nate: The goal was to give CAB oversight ability on this, but also include the student body president, MUB, and many other members for fairness and transparency purposes.
- Danny: Are you expecting future pulls from the reserves?
- Billy: right now I do not foresee that. We are very wise about our spending and usually we do not spend our full budget.
- Jake: Can we take the float grant money out of the ORO budget instead?
- Aaron: Yes we could. We have $152,000.
- Julie: Keep in mind that there will be a bigger draw on the ORO budget this year due to new orgs that can qualify for the funding.
- Doug: I would like to commend everyone on CAB who worked so hard on this.

- Discussion on the New Bylaws for SAFC
- Allison: Why can’t we have the discussion at this time?
- Aaron: It is not germane at this time, especially since thorough discussions took place last year, and because it is more of a Student Senate matter.
- Lincoln: I think discussion is great, and I think discussion should be allowed if wanted. Could you set a time?
- Aaron: Yes I can.
- Executive Session: SCOPE Contract
