Principal’s Message

Dear Parents/Guardians:

Being organized is a major factor in how well some students do in school. When I was the AVID teacher here at Di Giorgio I spent a lot of time focusing on the student’s binders and how to keep them organized.

Encourage your student to keep their backpack, binder and desk organized. Once they come home from school have them empty their backpack and go over homework, notices being sent home from school or papers that need to be signed.

Have them put an assignment log in their binder for each subject. When they get home review there assignment log and have them check off what they’ve completed. I used to do weekly binder checks and give extra credit for a well organized binder.

Work with them on their time management skills. Teach them to take care of their responsibilities before they play and it will go along ways keeping harmony in the house.

School Highlights:

Feb. 22 – The Leadership students will be putting on their annual Di Giorgio School Lock-In. Our Lock-Ins consists of the students spending the night, 7:00pm to 7:00 am, in our school auditorium. The students are divided up into 6 teams and compete in various activities throughout the night. The purpose is to demonstrate to students that you can have fun with out using alcohol, drugs or tobacco.

Feb. 28 – Our 5th and 8th graders will be taking their annual trip to visit our state capital, Sacramento. Our 8th graders study the U.S. Constitution while the 5th grades study state capitals. The students will be visiting the state capitol building, Old Town Sacramento and the CaliforniaTrainMuseum. We will be traveling by Amtrak, which always a thrill for the students.

What’s Happening:

This month Di Giorgio students will be participating in the Jump Rope for Heart activities and Pennies for Patients. Jump Rope for Heart raises funds for the American Heart Association while Pennies for Patients is a fund raising event to assist the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Thisis away for the students at Di Giorgio to give back to the community. I am very proud of the way our students have always been willing to do their part.

This month the students will be assisting in putting on our annual Jump Rope for Heart activities. On the 8th the entire school will be out participating in various jump rope activities. All of the money raised goes to the American Heart Association.

Mensaje del principal

Estimados padres/Guardianes:

Ser organizado es uno de los principales factores en lo bien que se desempeñan algunos estudiantes. Cuando fui el maestro de AVID aquí en Di Giorgio tomábamos el tiempo enfocados en las carpetas de los estudiantes y en como mantenerlas organizadas.

Anime a sus estudiantes a que mantengan su mochila, carpetas, y escritorio organizado. Una vez que ellos regresen a casa de la escuela pídales que vacíen su mochila y repase con ellos la tarea, las notas que han sido enviadas de la escuela y las que requieren de su firma.

Pídales que pongan su página de trabajos en la carpeta por cada materia. Cuando ellos lleguen a casa revisen la página de trabajos y pídales que marquen lo que ha sido completado. Yo revisaba las carpetas una vez a la semana y les daba extra crédito por una carpeta bien organizada.

Trabaje con ellos en manejo de tiempo. Enséñelos a tomar responsabilidades antes de salir a jugar y esto le ayudara a mantener una buena armonía en casa.

PUNTOS SOBRESALIENTE DE ESCUELA

El 22 de febrero-Estudiantes de liderazgo estaran organizando el encierro anual de la Escuela de Di Giorgio. El encierro consiste en que nuestros estudiantes pasan la noche entera en el auditorio de la escuela de 7:00pm a 7:00am. Los estudiantes se dividen en 6 grupos y compiten en varias actividades a través de la noche. El propósito de esta actividad es demostrar que los estudiantes pueden divertirse sin la necesidad de usar drogas, alcohol y tabaco.

El 28 de febrero- Los estudiantes del 5º y el 8º grado estarán haciendo el viaje anual a visitar la capital del estado en Sacramento. Los estudiantes del 8º grado aprenden sobre la Constitución, mientras los del 5º grado aprenden las capitales de estado. Ellos visitaran el edificio de la capital del estado, el viejo sacramento, y el museo de tren de California. Estaremos viajando en el tren Amtrak, el cual siempre es muy emocionante para los estudiantes.

ACONTECIMIENTOS:

Este mes los estudiantes de Di Giorgio participaran en Jump Rope for Heart, y Pennies para Pacientes. Jump Rope for Heart recauda fondos para la Asociación Americana del Corazón, mientras Pennies para Pacientes recauda fondos para asistir a pacientes de Leucemia, y la sociedad de Linfoma. Esta es una manera en que los estudiantes de Di Giorgio pueden dar a la comunidad. Estoy muy orgullosa de la forma en que nuestros estudiantes siempre están dispuestos a hacer su parte.

Actividades del consejo estudiantil y liderazgo

Este mes los estudiantes estarán organizando nuestra actividad anual Jump Rope for Heart. El día 8 toda la escuela estará participando en varias actividades de Jump Rope. Todos los fondos recaudados van dirigidos a la Asociación de American Heart.
