Alleluia, Christ has risen! We come together this Easter Sunday to celebrate the life, passion, death and Resurrection of Our Lord Jesus Christ. Through Jesus Christ we are reconciled with the Lord, through Him we have life everlasting and through Him we find salvation. As a family, we celebrate life in Christ and are called to be united with Jesus and with one another. During this Easter Celebration and as we renew our Baptismal Promises, may the Light of Christ live in us; rejoicing and sharing Him to all we encounter, just as those who were the first witnesses to the Resurrection. May we be strengthened in our faith and truly united as a family, while keeping Christ as the center so we too can be disciples of Jesus and living in His grace.

Christ’s Resurrection is an object of faith in that it is a transcendent intervention of God himself in creation and history. —CCC, no. 648
When we speak of the Paschal Mystery, we refer to Christ’s death and Resurrection as one inseparable event. It is a mystery because it is a visible sign of an invisible act of God. It is paschal because it is Christ’s passing through death into new life. For us it means that we can now die to sin and its domination of our lives, and we pass over into divine life already here on earth and more completely in heaven. Death is conquered in the sense that not only do our souls survive physical death, but even our bodies will rise again at the end of time at the Last Judgment and resurrection of the dead.
The Resurrection narratives in all four Gospels—though differing in details because of varying viewpoints of the different authors—maintain a similar structure in the narration of the events. At dawn on the Sunday after Christ’s death, Mary Magdalene and a companion go to the tomb to anoint the dead body of Jesus. They find the tomb is empty. They meet an angel who proclaims the Resurrection of Jesus: “He is not here, for he has been raised” (Mt 28:6). They are told to bring the Good News to the Apostles. Mary Magdalene leads the way and is celebrated in the liturgy of the Church as the first witness to the Resurrection.
Next come the appearance narratives when Jesus appears to the Apostles and disciples in a number of instances. St. Paul summarizes these appearances in his first Letter to the Corinthians (cf. 1 Cor 15:3-8). Finally, the disciples are commissioned to bring the Gospel to the world.
While the empty tomb of itself does not prove the Resurrection, since the absence of Christ’s body could have other explanations, it is an essential part of the proclamation of the Resurrection because it demonstrates the fact of what God has done in raising his Son from the dead in his own body. When St. John entered the empty tomb, “He saw and believed” (Jn 20:8).

Immaculate Conception Statue
As we continue celebrating the 200 Anniversary of the Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate we have blessed the Statue of Saint Eugene De Mazenod and have been placed in the niche in the back of the Church, and the rail and donor plaque is in the making. As we continue celebrating it would be appropriate to have the statue of the Immaculate Conception to honor the patroness of the Oblates and the United States. It would be ideal to have her statue if possible in May as it is her month, and bless it.
We invite the community to join in this effort by making a donation towards purchasing a statue of the Immaculate Conception. If any of you are interested in donating towards this special cause, please make your donation in separate envelope and make a clear notation that your contribution is for the statue of the Immaculate Conception. We thank you for your generosity!
FIESTA RAFFLE TICKETS
We have begun our preparations for Annual Fiesta being held on June 10th, 11th and 12th. Like every year we are having a raffle with many great prizes and we ask everyone from our parish to help in selling at least one raffle book; the more raffle books we sell, the more successful our Fiesta will be. After all the Masses, there will be volunteers distributing the raffle tickets to our entire parishioners who are registered and not registered. This is a parish community event and it is important for all to participate and help; the majority of the proceeds are for the current needs of our church. This year the raffle tickets will not be mailed because it is illegal to send raffle tickets through the U.S. Postal Office.
In the Archdiocese of Los Angeles Administrative Handbook 6.2.4.6 Federal law prohibits mailing raffle tickets that are sold for a specified price or a required donation. This includes raffles that indicate that a free ticket may be available upon request or by some other means. Only raffle tickets that are entirely free of charge may be mailed. Purchases by mail of raffle tickets, whether by cash, check, or credit card, are also prohibited. Violators of the law are subject to fine or imprisonment of up to five years.
Please stop by the tables outside every Mass or Parish Office during the week to pick your raffle tickets. Your participation is the key for the success of the Fiesta and the future of St. Ferdinand Church.

The Legion of Mary meets every Sunday at 10:00 AM in the Rectory. Come pray the rosary with them and find out all they do in their ministry.

¡Aleluya, Cristo ha resucitado! Nos hemos reunido este Domingo de Pascua para celebrar la vida, pasión, muerte y resurrección de nuestro Señor Jesucristo. A través de Jesucristo estamos reconciliados con el Señor, por medio de Él tenemos vida eterna y por Él, encontramos la salvación. Como familia, celebramos la vida en Cristo y estamos llamados a unirnos con Jesús y con los demás a nuestro alrededor. Durante esta celebración de Pascua y al renovar nuestras promesas bautismales, que la Luz de Cristo viva en nosotros; regocijemos y compartámoslo a todos que cruzan nuestro camino, así como aquellos que fueron los primeros testigos de la Resurrección. Que seamos fortalecidos en nuestra fe y verdaderamente unidos como una familia, manteniendo a Cristo como el centro, para que nosotros también seamos discípulos de Jesús y vivir en Su gracia.

La Rectoría cerrará el Jueves Santo a las 12:00 Mediodía. Abriremos de nuevo el martes 29 de marzo a las 9:00 AM.
BOLETOS DE RIFA
Hemos comenzado los preparativos para la Fiesta Anual que se llevara a cabo el 10, 11 y 12 de junio. Como cada año tendremos una rifa con grandes premios y pedimos a todos de nuestra parroquia que por favor nos ayuden en vender un los boletos de rifa. Los más libros vendidos, más éxito que tendremos hacia nuestra fiesta. Después de cada Misa, habrá voluntarios distribuyendo los boletos de rifa a todos los feligreses que sí o no están registrados dentro de la parroquia. Se trata de un evento de la comunidad parroquial y es importante que todos participar y ayuden; la mayoría de las ganancias son para las necesidades actuales de nuestra iglesia. Este año, los boletos de rifa no serán enviados por correo, ya que es un delito enviarlos por correo.
En el Manual Administrativo de la Arquidiócesis de Los Ángeles Manual 6.2.4.6La ley federal prohíbe enviar boletos de rifa que se venden por un precio determinado o una donación requerida. Esto incluye rifas que indican que un billete gratuito puede estar disponible a petición o por algún otro medio. Sólo sorteará entradas que están totalmente libres de cargas financieras podrán ser enviados por correo. También están prohibidas las compras por correo de boletos de la rifa, ya sea en efectivo, cheque o tarjeta de crédito. Los infractores de la ley son objeto de multa o prisión de hasta cinco años.
Favor de pasar por las mesas afuera de cada Misa o la Oficina Parroquial durante la semana para recoger sus boletos de la rifa. Su participación es la clave para el éxito de la Fiesta y el futuro de la Iglesia de St. Ferdinand.

La Resurrección de Cristo es objeto de fe en cuanto es una intervención trascendente de Dios mismo en la creación y en la historia. —CIC, no. 648
Cuando hablamos del Misterio Pascual, nos referimos a la muerte y Resurrección de Cristo como un solo e inseparable acontecimiento. Es un misterio porque es un signo visible de un acto invisible de Dios. Es pascual porque es el paso de Cristo a través de la muerte a la nueva vida. Para nosotros esto quiere decir que ahora podemos morir al pecado y su dominación de nuestras vidas, y pasamos ya aquí en la tierra a la vida divina y lo haremos más completamente en el cielo. La muerte es conquistada en el sentido de que no solo nuestras almas sobreviven la muerte física, sino que incluso nuestros cuerpos se levantarán de nuevo al final de los tiempos en el Juicio Final y la resurrección de los muertos.
Las narraciones de la Resurrección en los cuatro Evangelios —aunque difieren en los detalles a causa de los distintos puntos de vista de los diferentes autores— mantienen una estructura similar en la narración de los acontecimientos. Al amanecer del Domingo tras la muerte de Cristo, María Magdalena y una compañera van a la tumba para ungir el cuerpo sin vida de Jesús. Encuentran la tumba vacía. Se encuentran a un ángel que proclama la Resurrección de Jesús: “No está aquí; ha resucitado” (Mt 28:6). Se les dice que lleven la Buena Nueva a los Apóstoles. María Magdalena es quien se pone al frente y es celebrada en la liturgia de la Iglesia como el primer testigo de la Resurrección.
A continuación surgen las narraciones de las apariciones de Jesús cuando este se aparece a los Apóstoles y los discípulos en distintas ocasiones. San Pablo resume estas apariciones en su primera Carta a los Corintios (cf. 1 Co 15:3-8). Finalmente, los discípulos reciben la comisión de llevar el Evangelio al mundo.
Mientras que la tumba vacía no prueba la Resurrección, ya que la ausencia del cuerpo de Cristo podría tener otras explicaciones, es una parte esencial de la proclamación de la Resurrección porque demuestra el hecho de lo que Dios ha hecho al resucitar a su Hijo de la muerte en su propio cuerpo. Cuando San Juan entró en la tumba vacía, “vio y creyó” (Jn 20:8).
Estatua de la Inmaculada Concepción
Continuamos celebrando el aniversario de 200 años de los Misioneros Oblatos de María Inmaculada hemos bendecido la estatua de San Eugenio De Mazenod y le hemos puesto en el nicho detrás de la Iglesia, y el riel y placa de donadores esta en el proceso. Continuando celebrando es apropiado de tener una estatua de la Inmaculada Concepción ya que es la patrona de los Oblatos y de los Estados Unidos. Sería ideal de tener esta estatua y bendecir en el mes de mayo ya que es su mes.
Invitamos a la comunidad a participar en la celebración de este evento especial al hacer una donación para la compra de una estatua de la Inmaculada Concepción. Si alguno de ustedes está interesado en donar a esta causa especial, favor de hacer su donación en un sobre aparte y hacer una anotación que su contribución es para la Estatua de la Inmaculada Concepción. ¡Le damos las gracias por su generosidad!

We thank all who volunteered, donated and supported our Taco Sale which was held last Sunday (March 13th) to support our Annual St. Ferdinand Fiesta and its planning. The taco sale was a complete success and we were able to fundraise $1525.00 towards our Parish Fiesta Fund. Our next Taco Sale will be held on Sunday, April 3rdand we invite the whole community to once again support this important fundraiser to make our Fiesta a successful one.
