ABOUT THE PROGRAM . . .
ARC Services of Macomb, Inc., is a membership organization which, as a local ARC unit, is also part of the ARC of the United States and the ARC Michigan. Although originally organized as the Association for Retarded Citizens, the agency formally changed its name in 1985 to reflect concern for all people with disabilities. This helps avoid labeling individuals and emphasizes the various services offered to the community by the agency.
The agency offers person-centered programs, as well as assistance and support for individuals involving all facets of their lives (vocational, social, educational and residential). The emphasis is on community integration for each individual, while ensuring appropriate support, so that each person may become valued members of their own community and achieve their greatest potential.
The services described above are used as training opportunities to prepare consumers for competitive employment. Consumers are paid wages commensurate for any work performed based on prevailing wage rates in the community for performing the same type of work.
