Filming since 1983 and has specialised in extreme environments, particularly the north and south polar regions both above and below the water. He has filmed wildlife and expeditions all over the world, including the upper reaches of Mt Everest.
Doug’s dive experience has been gained in over 45 years of diving and more than 5000 hours underwater, with over 650 dives under ice. He is an HSE qualified diver, also trained on the Poseidon Mk6 Rebreather.
He’s been involved with over 70 films, doing assignments as a freelance for the BBC, Discovery, National Geographic and many other commissioners.
His photographic awards include seven Emmy’s, four BAFTA’s, five Wildscreen Pandas and recognition at Jackson Hole and Missoula Film Festivals.
Doug established his own company Tartan Dragon Ltd in 2004. In between filming shoots he gives presentations about his work, science and the environment to schools and institutions across the UK.
In January 2011, he published Freeze Framehis first book of polar photographs and anecdotes.
