CHECKING ACCOUNT AND AUTO INSURANCE PROJECT

In order to learn more about selecting a checking account and auto insurance, you will be going through the steps to compare checking accounts and car insurance rates, and entering the information into a PowerPoint presentation. Read through all of these instructions:

·  This Project is worth 100 points. It is very important to your grade that you finish all projects.

·  You will use the PowerPoint template on the class web site to enter information.

·  Click on the Project PowerPoint link, and then click on Open. Save the file in your Z drive.

·  Insert your name on the first slide where it says Student Name.

·  Each student will fill in information for three checking accounts from the bank assigned in this table. You will also use the vehicle assigned to get your auto insurance estimates. Your assignments are:

·  For each checking account, you will fill out one slide with the name of the account and any five features of that card that you select.

·  Follow these steps if you are assigned Wachovia:

o  Go to the web page at www.wachovia.com.

o  Under Banking, click on Checking.

o  On the next page, enter 23666 for the ZIP, and click on Go.

o  To get all of the information for each account, click on the name of the account.

o  For the Checking Account 1 slide, fill in the information for Essential Checking

o  For the Checking Account 2 slide, fill in the information for Student Checking

o  For the Checking Account 3 slide fill in the information for Crown Banking

·  Follow these steps if you are assigned Citibank:

o  Go to the web page at www.citibank.com.

o  Under Banking, click on Checking. In the pop-up window, select VA as your state, and click on Go.

o  To get all of the information for each account, click on Get Details in the column under the account name.

o  For the Checking Account 1 slide, fill in the information for Citigold Interest Checking

o  For the Checking Account 2 slide, fill in the information for The Citibank Account

o  For the Checking Account 3 slide, fill in the information for Basic Checking

·  Follow these steps if you are assigned Bank of America:

o  Go to the web page at www.bankofamerica.com.

o  Hover your mouse over the Bank menu, and click on Checking.

o  On the next page, select Virginia and click on Go

o  To get all of the information for an account, click on Learn more under the name of the account.

o  For the Checking Account 1 slide, fill in the information for eBanking

o  For the Checking Account 2 slide, fill in the information for MyAccess Checking

o  For the Checking Account 3 slide, fill in the information for Advantage with Tiered Interest Checking

·  Review the information for all of the checking accounts, and select the one you think is the best for you.

o  On the slide titled Best Account for You, fill in the name of the bank, the name of the account, and three reasons why it’s the best for you.

·  Review the information for all of the checking accounts, and select the one you think is the worst for you.

o  On the slide titled Best Account for You, fill in the name of the bank, the name of the account, and three reasons why it’s the worst for you.

·  To get your insurance estimates, go to http://www.allstate.com/auto-insurance/quick-auto-insurance-quote.aspx (the link is on the class page), and click where it says “Ballpark Estimate tool”

o  Enter 23666 for the Zip code and click on Get a Quote. On the locations, select HAMPTON, VA.

o  Under “Get Ballpark Estimates Without Giving Your Name,” click the Start Here button.

o  On the “Welcome to Your Ballpark Estimate” popup window, click on Start

o  Add one driver – either a single male or female, set your age (if under 16, use 16), select None under Accidents and Violations, and click Next. (You may click on the Good Student Discount if it applies.)

o  Select 2011 for the Year of Vehicle, then select the make and model of the vehicle you are assigned. You may select any Submodel of your vehicle, then click on Next.

o  Under Your Residence, select Neither, under General Bill Payment History, select Good, and Under Continuous Auto Insurance Length, select 0 (zero), then click next.

o  To get all information for the Basic policy, click on the price for 6 months.

o  Use this information to fill in the information for the Basic Coverage slide.

o  DO NOT CLICK ON THE BACK BUTTON IN INTERNET EXPLORER to go back and get information for the Enhanced policy. Instead, scroll to the bottom of the page and click on the “BACK” button on the page. If you click on the back button in Internet Explorer, you may have to re-enter the information above.

o  To get all information for the Enhanced policy, click on the price for 6 months.

o  On the Best Policy for You (Now) slide, pick one of the policies and list three reasons that it would be the best one for you now

·  Now you will get information on the same insurance for when you are older.

o  Go back to the http://www.allstate.com/auto-insurance/quick-auto-insurance-quote.aspx (the link is on the class page), and click on Ballpark Estimate tool

o  Enter 23666 for the Zip code and click on Get a Quote. On the locations, select HAMPTON, VA.

o  Under Get Ballpark Estimates Without Giving Your Name, click the Start Here button.

o  Add one driver – either a MARRIED male or female, set your age to your current age plus 10 years, select None under Accidents and Violations, and click Next.

o  Select 2011 for the Year of Vehicle, then select the make and model of the vehicle you are assigned, then click on Next.

o  Under Your Residence, select Own, under General Bill Payment History, select Excellent, and Under Continuous Auto Insurance Length, select 5+, then click next.

o  To get all information for a policy, click on the price for 6 months.

o  Use this information to fill in the information for the Basic Coverage and Enhanced Coverage slides

o  On the Best Policy for You (Later) slide, pick one of the two policies and list three reasons that it would be the best one for you 10 years from now.

·  When you’re done, save the PowerPoint file in your Z drive. I will grade all projects from your Z drive
