J.T. Lambert’s 2016-2017

Musical Theatre Production

“Singin’ in the Rain Jr.”

Audition Packet

Congratulations! You have taken the first step to becoming involved with J.T. Lambert’s 2017 musical theatre production of “Singin’ in the Rain Jr.” The directors have put this audition packet together to inform you and your family about the audition, rehearsal, and performance process. Please go home and read through the ENTIRE packet with your parent or guardian.

J.T. Lambert’s Spring Musical Theatre Production for 2017 is “Singin’ in the Rain Jr.” Our version is a shortened version of the award-winning Broadway show and film. There are opportunities for speaking parts, solos, and ensemble roles. This is a show with dialogue as well as song, so all students auditioning must sing. Dancing may also be requested.

Keep in mind that many students will audition, but the directors can only cast about 30 students in this production. The more prepared and practiced students have better chances to be cast.

Rehearsals will begin in December and will continue until the performances. Rehearsals will be 6pm-8pm two days a week (days determined by availability, but we are rehearsing later this year so you can stay involved in other activities!) and Saturday mornings starting in February. Please list ALL conflicts so we can plan accordingly.

If you plan to be involved in other activities that might conflict with rehearsals or performances (or simply have a busy schedule), please DO NOT audition. We will only cast students that can attend all scheduled rehearsals and be at each performance. In the event that an understudy is assigned to you (meaning there is a possibility you may miss a show), the understudy is guaranteed to perform at least one of the three days, even if you become available.

In order to remain in the cast, you must sustain passing grades in all subjects and positive behavior. Failure to maintain such records will result in removal from the cast. The directors will frequently check to make sure grades and discipline are superior with team teachers.

PERFORMANCES ARE: April 21, 22, and 23

If you have any questions, feel free to email either of the directors:

Contract

I AGREE TO THE FOLLOWING IF CAST IN THE SHOW:

þ I am expected to attend all scheduled rehearsals unless absent from school or cleared with the directors. This includes providing a written note for an appointment.

þ If I have three or more unexcused absences from rehearsal, I know that I will be removed from the show.

þ I must maintain passing grades in all subjects. If I fail a subject, I will be put on “probation” and will have two weeks to bring my grade up to passing. If I have lines/ solos, an understudy may be cast.

þ If I do not bring my grades up to passing after two weeks of being put on probation I will be removed from the cast permanently.

þ I know that if an understudy is cast, the understudy will be granted performance rights meaning they are guaranteed to perform in at least one performance in front of an audience.

þ I must maintain a good record of discipline and act as a positive role model at all times by modeling good character and behavior to my peers.

þ I understand that detentions and suspensions will not be tolerated and may result in removal from the cast.

þ If I miss a rehearsal due to a detention, it will count as an unexcused absence.

þ I am aware that if a severe discipline problem occurs, the directors will meet with the administrators to determine if the student should be removed from the cast or other justified actions will be taken.

BY SIGNING THIS CONTRACT, I AGREE TO THE TERMS ABOVE.
