PRESCHOOL SNACK

I just wanted to take a minute to explain snack time in preschool. Children are offered a snack each day, which usually happens during center time. We believe that it is important for children to have a choice of food as well as to be able to choose when they would like to eat. We try to offer a variety of foods on a daily basis. Each snack is individually packaged in an attempt to make this center as child friendly and sanitary as possible. Your child is always welcome to bring their own snack if that is a better choice for them.

We ask that you help us provide snack and snack supplies for the group by signing up to bring in a snack 2 times each month. We will send home a sign-up sheet each month for you to pick the days that are convenient for your family. We ask that healthy snacks be your first choice; however, on special occasions or celebrations we may have cupcakes, cookies, etc. We will send home a wish list of items needed from time to time to assist us with snack. Some examples of items we use are spoons and forks, small and large paper plates, zipper seal baggies, napkins and small paper cups for our Dixie dispenser.

Your child may bring a drink to school or purchase one. We have orange juice and chocolate or white milk for $.25 cents each. If your child will be buying milk or juice, we ask that he/she bring money each day. We have found that a change purse with money for the week works best. We will be able to help make change so you do not need to provide exact change.

Pomfret Community School participates in the Connecticut Nutrition Program. The application for free/reduced milk was included in your enrollment packet and is available in the main office. This application is also used to determine eligibility for free/reduced tuition for the preschool program. Please contact Melody Brock, Food Service Director, in the main office at (860) 928-2718 or by e-mail at for further information.

Thank you for your support!

Sincerely,
