Regional Performance Coach (WAG)
Position Status: Full time position
Salary: £22-26k + expenses (depending on experience)
Responsible to: Club Manager supported by Scottish Gymnastics Performance Pathway Manager

Summary of Role
- Develop / Oversee and embed the WAG performance pathway for the region in line with Scottish Gymnastics strategic outcomes
- Lead the regional performance pathway training under the direction of the Scottish Gymnastics Performance Pathway Manager and input from National Technical Advisor(s)
- Support coaches in the region with a focus on Coach Development, mentoring and education
- To work as a key member of the Women’s Artistic coaching team at Lasswade GC
- Design and deliver training programmes for identified gymnasts – covering both technical and physical preparation aspects of performance
- Develop and implement club strategic plans to achieve our growth plan and increase the volume of performance gymnasts.
- To provide mentoring and informal coach education to club based personal coaches L2 and above
Expected Success Factors
- Establishment and embedding of a high performance coaching culture at all levels of the pathway in the region
- Year on year increase in the number of gymnasts meeting the standard for selection for British Finals
- Increase number of gymnasts from the region on GB squads
- Effective gymnastics pathway in place and operating
- A team of well-developed and knowledgeable coaches operating at all levels of the pathway in the region
- Club coaches achieve their full potential through targeted development opportunities
- Gymnast achievement levels increase across all competitive levels

Main Functions:
- Coaching
- Develop, with clubs within the region, a High Performance coaching culture at all levels on the pathway
- Deliver high quality coaching sessions (through camps and clinics) to:
- Identified gymnasts at performance development and talent development levels through a regional training programme
- Identified gymnasts with potential within clubs
- Identified groups of gymnasts within Lasswade GC
- Observe and correct technical aspects of gymnast performance within the club
- Pathway development
- Lead on developing and delivering an effective pathway programme in clubs through to performance levels
- Work alongside personal coaches to develop a high quality coaching programme throughout the pathway
- Work with partners to identify and develop the pathway from recreational to performance levels
- Work closely with other coaches to establish an effective pathway and training programme across Men’s / Women’s Artistic for the region
- Coach Development
- Develop & mentor coaches ensuring a performance development culture at all levels
- Deliver technical workshops for coaches across the region in agreement with the performance and education departments at Scottish Gymnastics
- For coaches with gymnasts within the performance pathway programme, support their personal development
- Communication
- Develop and maintain strong and effective working partnerships and relationships with key partners and stakeholders
- Represent Scottish Gymnastics at relevant Scottish and UK forums / events
- Act as a key member of the Lasswade GC Coaching team, ensuring communication and collaboration across disciplines
- Monitoring
- Provide monitoring and evaluation reports to an agreed format and timescale for Scottish Gymnastics, key partners and stakeholders
- Ensure that robust planning and recording mechanisms of development activities are in place
- Develop (and review) procedures and control protocols supported by the network of clubs, coaches, officials and volunteers
- Work with Scottish Gymnastics’ Performance Pathway Manager to establish tracking measures of key gymnasts within the region

The post holder will be required to work irregular hours and travel both within the UK and overseas. The role will also incorporate overnight stays and weekend work. The post holder will need to hold a clean driving licence and their own car to carry out their duties.
Knowledge, Skills & Qualifications
- Minimum Level 4 (or country equivalent) qualification in Women’s Artistic or in depth expertise and knowledgein performance gymnastics
- Experience in managing and directing a coaching team (or equivalent)
- Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the British Gymnastics Pathway for WAG
- Proven experience coaching at High Performance Levels in WAG
- Desirable to have a Level 2 (or country equivalent) in Men’s Artistic
- Good IT skills and ability to work with Microsoft packages
- Excellent communication skills
- Proven ability to negotiate and influence
