Christa Townsend Memorial Health Professional Scholarship

Christa Townsend, beloved daughter of Myron and Carol Townsend and wonderful sister to Kelly and Kraig Townsend and a friend of many died unexpectedly on June 2, 2007. Christa was a Charge RN in the ER at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria. Christa was a 1992 graduate of Galva High School and a 1996 graduate of Trinity Nursing School in Moline. Christa will always be remembered for her bright smile, her love for her profession and her outstanding personality.
She loved to read and had taken many extra courses for the trauma nurse position.
She had previously worked on the Galva Bishop Hill Ambulance as an EMT and organized Operation Prom for Galva High School in 1998.
The Townsend family will award a $250 scholarship each year to a senior who is planning on furthering his or her education in the field of health. The scholarship will be issued to the winner upon receipt of verification to the CUSD #224 office of fall enrollment by the student. The money is to be used for educational purposes only as determined by the student.

Basic eligibility: Plan to major in a health or health-related field.
Plan on completing at least a two-year program.
The main criteria will be career plans, school and community involvement and passion for the medical field. The Townsend family will meet to select the winner.
