LOCAL ATTRACTIONS
A Local Hike
Directly across the Connecticut River from the Conference site is Wantastiquet Mountain (see map above). This is a pleasant hike to the top of the hill with a view of Brattleboro and the distant hills to the west.
Cross the bridge near the Conference Center, continue across the small island, and to the far bank via another bridge. There is a small road immediately left that leads to the head of the trail.
Canoe Rental
At the North end of town, where the West River joins the Connecticut River, there is a canoe rental business. Take route 5 North from Main Street about 1/2 mile. Look for Vermont Canoe touring Center immediately after the bridge.

Brattleboro
The Main Street of Brattleboro has numerous restaurants and specialty shops within walking distance of the Conference Center. The Brattleboro Museum and Art Center is next door to the Conference Center.
Local Area
To the North and West along Route 30 there are some state parks and ski areas, and a number of restaurants and gift shops.
North on Route 5 takes you to the small town of Putney Vermont (with the worlds largest basket store, Basketville), and then further on past apple orchards and farm stands to Bellows Falls.
Bellows Falls is similar to Brattleboro, but smaller. There is a used book store, restaurants, and some art galleries. A pleasant town to walk about in.
