Youth Peer Leader Schedule- all training session will take place at the Worcester Youth Center (4:00pm-6:30pm)

Monday, September 17, 2007- Interview youth interested in participating in the SPIN project, explain project description, and initiate the selection process.

Wednesday, September 19, 2007- Meet and greet the peer leaders, conduct team building and trust building activities.

Monday, September 24, 2007- Introduce the SPIN project specifics, partners (Ana, Jim, Judy, Richard, and Rosa), their roles, and deliverables. Conduct an outreach activity, survey youth on what products they use at home and assigned a homework assignment for next training date.

Wednesday, September 26, 2007- Introduce Toxics and Health. Present a power point presentation on Environmental Health and Toxics. Help youth understand the harms, risks of toxic found in our daily products. Introduce safer alternative methods and products substituting hazardous ways and use of these toxins.

Monday, October 1, 2007-Learn about what Toxic Use Reduction Institute (TURI) does. Peer leaders will have a better understanding of the research conducted by TURI, the training education TURI provides to the community at large, and will be informed of the grants awarded to other communities and municipalities.

Wednesday, October 3, 2007 – Peer leaders will create an outreach plan to introduce SPIN in the community.

Wednesday, October 10, 2007- Part one(1)Peer Leaders will be introduces to the roots of exposure to toxins, what are MSDA sheets, safe cleaning and review literature available to them to raise awareness in the community.

Monday, October 22, 2007- Peer leaders will learn how to create a Public service announcement, tour the TV studio, and discuss ideas to include into the project.

Wednesday, October 24, 2007- Peer leaders will be engage in activities to strengthen their facilitation and presentation skills.

Monday, October 29, 2007- Peer Leader will recap training materials. They will also have the opportunity to engage in a conversation with partners about the SPIN project and how disseminate the project.
