The Abbvie 2014 Nursing Professional Development Award is available for Registered Nurses to use for personal professional development which can be shown to enhance urology nursing practice.
The award can be utilised in the following ways:
- Travel Scholarship (International or within Australia / NZ)
- Conference or other formal education forum
- Other PD activity with direct link to patient care benefit
This is a competitive grant application and the award will be made to the applicant whom in the opinion of the judging panel best meets the criteria below:
Selection Criteria:
- A Registered Nurse
- Employed in a urology focusednursing position for at least 0.5FTE per week
- Has been a financial member of ANZUNS for a minimum of 12 months and is active member at time of application
- Has not received any prior benefits from ANZUNS which are sponsored by Abbvie
- Demonstrates an ongoing commitment to urology nursing by outlining 3 objectives and accompanying text which describe the relevance of the chosen education program to the applicant’s practice, how it will contribute to improving the management and support urology patients in the nurses’ work setting and how to this knowledge will be disseminated both locally and to the ANZUNS membership.
- Acknowledge they will be available to present their findings from their professional development activity and discuss how this information has been used to change practice at the 2015 ANZUNS meeting in SA.
- Provide a complete application with accompanying requested CV and letter of support from their manager
Award Conditions
The award of $5,000 is payable to the recipient on acceptance of a schedule of what the activity will entail.
Additional funding is available on completion of the activity for ANZUNS approved travel, accommodation and registration at the 2015 ANZUNS meeting to present findings as a podium paper.
- Applicants need to provide evidence of support to undertake the proposed professional development activity from their line manager.
- The successful applicant is required to provide feedback to ANZUNS, in the form of a written report which in turn may be published on the ANZUNS website and / or newsletter. The report will provide a synopsis of the educational program undertaken along with any key messages learnt.
- The activity must be completed by 31st January 2015
- Monies will be forwarded by banker’s cheque to the successful applicant upon on acceptance of a schedule of what the activity will entail.

- Please include Curriculum Vitae in your application together with your application form and letter of support from your manager
- Applications close 15th January 2014
- Late or incomplete applications will not be accepted.
- The Award recipient will be announced at the 2013 ANZUNS meeting and the name ofthe successful applicant will also be posted on the ANZUNS website. Attendance is not funded for the award recipient to attend this meeting to receive the award in person and is not mandatory.
