  • October 24th – 28th CHS DECA will be hosting an entire week of knowledge and fun during 4th and 5th lunches. DECA prepares emerging leaders and entrepreneurs for careers in marketing, finance, hospitality and management in high schools and colleges around the globe. Don’t miss Out! DECA starts off this week with competitions! Join DECA at both lunches to see how much you know about DECA for a chance to win a prize! Join DECA for a fun and flirty fashion show during both lunches DECA will be putting on a scavenger hunt during both lunches! Be on the look-out for DECA Diamonds Hidden all around the school.
  • We collected fun-sized bags of candy until the 26th of October in 7th hour classes. All the candy that was collected went go to the trunk or treat so that kids can go trick or treating in a safer way. Leadership is doing hosting a Trunk or Treat Thursday, October 27th at 6 PM at Virgie Robinson Elementary. Whichever 7th hour class collected the most candy gets the donut party. Small bags are worth 3 points and big bags are worth 5 points.Thanks for all you do!
  • A shout out that the CHS Gesa High School Credit Union! ….yay!! Now open….Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday – BOTH LUNCHES, Closed Wednesdays. Our grand opening is scheduled on Monday, October 31st. There will be games, a photo booth, and raffle for 4, $25.00Hawksnest gift cards. Come by and have some fun!! BOO!! Thank you!!!!! Ms. Leighty.
  • It’s almost that time of the year, that means WINTER WISHES is near! If you know of anyone who is in desperate need of a sweater, shoes, gloves, etc. and maybe they can’t afford it, this is the opportunity to fill out a wish form and turn it in! It can be anything! Winter wish forms will be available in lower wing offices. Forms will begin October 27th through December 3rd. Make sure you have the persons first and last name of whom you’d like to make that wish for!
  • Are you a gamer? So are we! Do you play RPGs, card games, board games, and video games? So do we!Join us for weekly Game ‘N Tech Club meetings on Thursdays, right after school in room B2060. Come to meet new people, learn new games, play some oldies but goodies, and have a great time. Looking for bragging rights? Did we mention we are officially partnering with Adventures Underground this year and will be meeting a representative from Adventures Underground? Want to play Super Smash Bros.?Come to Game ‘N Tech on Thursday, October 27, where we will crown a victor in a Super Smash Bros tournament. That’s right!The tournament will start promptly at 3 PM and will last until bragging rights can be claimed. Come to B2060 to show off those mad gaming skills!
  • As you all may know ID badges are no longer required to be worn but they do need to be presented when asked to present them. With that being said October 28th (this Friday)we will be checking to make sure you are carrying an ID badge with you all day. So please make sure you have your badges handy everyday and at all times!
  • Unashamed, Chiawana's Christian club, will meet every Friday during both lunches in Mrs. Leighty's room, to the left of the Gesa credit union. This year, we will focus on a different issues that today's teens experience every week. Everyone's invited. Today we will learn what the Bible says about challenges teens face every day and to pray for Chiawana High School.
  • Key Club meeting this Friday, October 28th during both lunches in room C1038! Members and new members please plan on attending we will be planning our next activity! Remember...It's a Key Club thing....
  • Chess club meets Friday’s at 2:40pm in room M1030.
  • STEM/MESA seniors- come see Mrs. Bachart and Mrs. Smith on Friday, October 28th during HAWK TIME in Mrs. Smith's room for an informational meeting about senior STEM. We will talk honor cords, scholarship applications and college.
  • Mark Twain Elementary has their Harvest Carnival on October 29th; they are looking for a few volunteers to help with setup on Friday and lots of volunteers for the event on Saturday. If your group is interested or you know if a team or club that is interested please call Veronica @ 509-302-0386.
  • Attention anyone that may be interested in joining Spanish Club! Join us as we celebrate and learn about Dia De Los Muertos in the month of October! We will have one more huge meeting on October 31st! Come join us and have lots of fun, meet new people, and learn about the Spanish language and Culture!

  • It’s not too late to join Speech and Debate! Practices start this week. Our first tournament is at Eisenhower High School on November 5th, so let’s get another winning year rolling; come to F1220 after school, every day except Wednesday.
  • All branches of military will be requesting contact information for Juniors and Seniors. If you wish to opt out, please go to Student Services and add your name to the opt out list.
  • Do you want to learn how to solve a Rubik’s Cube? If so, join us on Tuesdays after school in room D2005. Learn to cube, get faster, and compete against other cubers.
  • Chiawana Stage Company presents, “The Diary of Anne Frank”, a play Frances Goodrich and Albert Hackett based on Anne Frank: The Diary of a Young Girl Newly Adapted by Wendy Kesselman will play November 3rd, 4th, 10th and 12th in the Black Box Theatre at 7:00pm. Don’t wait too long to buy your tickets! We sold this show out in 2001 before opening night.Buy your tickets at the ASB office Monday- Friday from 7:30a.m. to 2:30 p.m..   • Attention Seniors: The 17th Annual Pasco School District Enterprise Program will be held November 28 through December 2, 2016. This is the full week after Thanksgiving. Enterprise is a partnership with local businesses, Pasco School District and Washington Business Week. This program provides experience with the business world from industry experts who share business principles and knowledge. Students are formed into small companies where they create a new product and operate a business using a computer business simulation. Each student company is partnered with a Tri-City business professional or community member. Senior students must complete an Enterprise Registration Form, a Letter of Introduction, and a Resume and submit to the Enterprise Office at your school no later than Friday, November 4th, 2016.

  • Art Club has started and runs from 2:40-4:00pm in Mr. Merrick’s room A1132. Art Club welcomes al levels of art and photography students to join. Mr. Eads and Mr. Merrick can be contacted for further information.
  • Chiawana! There’s a new tradition starting, Chiawana Memory Wall. Take a picture at any Chiawana event and add #ChiawanaMemoryWall. The Leadership team will print your appropriate pictures and post them on the wall located outside of the library. Leadership will be taking pictures from Twitter and Instagram. If you don’t have those social media accounts, you can drop off your printed pictures to the Student Activity Center across from Security. We look forward to seeing all of your memories!
  • Any Freshmen interested in Ski/Snowboard Club need to come see Mr. Sommerville in room B2077.
  • Chiawana's annual lip-synch battle is coming up! Pitch not Perfect is a night filled with hilarious performances by staff and students. Tickets are $3 in advance from a leadership student, and $5 at the door. Be there November 22nd, the fun starts at 6:30 pm. If you are interested in performing, fill out an application and turn it into the leadership room.
  • The Talon Room is open for GEAR UP tutoring. Please come see us! We are located in the upper south D wing. We open every day from 7:15am-7:50 am for A.M. Tutoring; Monday-Wednesday 2:35pm-5:00pm, Thursdays 2:00pm-5:00pm, and on Fridays 2:35-4:00pm. GEAR UP will NO longer be tutoring during Hawktime in the Talon Room. We will ONLY be working with students that want to find Scholarship monies, apply for college, college research, financial aid awareness, personal statements or any and all college stuff!
  • Seniors Only: Have you taken the Sat Test yet????? If not or you want to increase your score, Students Services and Gear -Up have teamed up to offer you a free SAT Test. (You must have a GPA of 2.5 or higher) To sign up please visit with Mr. Brown in students services or stop by Gear Up office 2nd floor D wing, (Seniors & All College Bound Student) don't miss the great opportunity.
  • The Flight Crew Dance team will be selling Chiawana scarves (similar to “soccer” scarves that are very in right now). They are the perfect spirit item for watching outdoor fall sports. Each scarf is $20.00. If you are interested in one please ask one of the dancers or Ms. Callahan and will make sure a dancer comes to find you. We will also be selling them at the home football games.The 2016-17 winter sports are just around the corner! If you are interested in participating in basketball, bowling or wrestling, please make sure you are cleared through the Athletic Office before the first practice. To be cleared you need to be signed up for the sport on have a current sports physical and an ASB.
  • Bigtime announcement for all Hawksquad members!! We have started a new contest where 30 dedicated Hawksquad members will be going on an all expense paid trip to Seattle to take in a Seattle Sounders game and go down on the field beforehand to meet the players and tour the stadium! The students will be excused from class all day to go! Everything will be paid for!
  • How do you get to take part in this trip –
  • Be a hawksquad member.
  • Get a stamp card from Mr. Jonas in his room C1034
  • Go to Varsity games, stand and cheer and you will get a stamp from administrators and others. (you have to be standing and cheering to get a stamp).
  • The 30 members who get the most stamps will go on the trip! The contest runs until the Spring.

Attention Athletes: The weight room will be open after school. All out of season athletes are encouraged to attend. You must be registered in a sport through family ID.

Attention Wrestlers: Our after school weight training program has started. This will run every Monday-Thursday from 2:45-4:45. If you are not in a fall sport, you are expected to be there. If you have questions, talk to coach Anderson.

Attention! All girls interested in wrestling: First practice for Bowling is November 1st. First practice for Basketball and Wrestling is November 14th.
