AVID END OF YEAR PROJECT

POINTS POSSIBLE: 80 POINTS (TENTATIVE)
Purpose: The purpose of this project is to incorporate the elements of WICOR (writing, inquiry, collaboration, organization and reading) into a culminating group project.
Directions: Choose your group partners of up to 4 members per group. Your team will choose a project form the list of projects generated in class. Each group will satisfy the common requirements of the project.
Requirements: ALL GROUPS WILL SATISFY THE FOLLOWING REQUIREMENTS:
1. Each team will have a written component processed on the computer. All writing must be grammatically correct.
2. The written component will be preceded by at least 3 essential questions written at a level two or three using Costa’s Levels of Questioning.
3. Each team will present their project in a fun, interesting, and well prepared presentation. The presentation will be scored on poise (preparation), eye contact, and voice projection.
4. Reading: each team will research their topic using AVID literature, books, and/or the internet.
PROJECT CHOICES:
1. Music Video: Your music video will have a written script and it will be a celebration of AVID.
2. Play/skit: Your play or skit may be performed live of recorded on a camcorder. A written script with essential questions will be turned in on the due date.
3. Movie/Commercial: Like the play, this choice will have a written script including the guiding essential questions. This will be recorded on a camcorder.
4. Career Banner: This banner/poster will highlight a career choice and it will include the necessary academic steps required to achieve your career choice.
5. AVID T-shirt: Including a catchy logo and a write up documenting the steps to creating your t-shirts. Of course your guiding essential questions will be included at the beginning of the write up.
6. Power Point Presentation: Your PPT will be highlighting the awesomeness of AVID and the components that make up AVID.
7. Newspaper Project: This creative writing assignment is perfect for the students who must work alone. Your project will be formatted like a newspaper complete with headlines, bylines, and articles.
8. AVID Journal/Survey Questionnaire: Your team will create and conduct a survey (min. 10 questions) regarding the year in AVID. You may survey 7th and 8th graders. Along with the professional survey questions will be an academic data analysis presenting the findings for each question.
