WALL STREETEXCHANGE SUMMER PROGRAM – PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

TheWallStreetExchange(WSE)providesacareerdevelopmentprogramtoaugmentthesummerinternship workexperienceofselectqualifiedstudentswhoarebetweentheirjuniorandsenioryearsofcollegeand whoareemployedintheNewYorkmetropolitanarea.WSEISNOTANINTERNSHIPOPPORTUNITY.The programis opentoboth women and men, and thereisnocost tostudentsto apply orparticipate.

BENEFITSOFPARTICIPATIONINTHEWSEINCLUDE:

  • Excitingopportunitytoenhancejobsearchskillswhilelearningtothinkstrategicallyabout career choices.
  • ParticipationineventsandprogramshostedatvariousWallStreetfirms. Events aredesignedtostrengthenthe skillsnecessarytoexecuteasuccessfulundergraduatefull-timejobsearchinfinancialservicesand relatedfields.Topicscoveredinformaleducationprogramshaveincluded:resumewriting,interview techniques,businessetiquette and more.
  • Opportunitytobeginbuildingaprofessionalnetworkoflike-minded professionals who also participate in the program, including interns and employees from sponsor firms.
  • Membership Access – FWA members attend WSE program sessions and can also be referred to participants in the program for sharing professional and personal advice as well as for networking.
  • QualificationforFWAmembership.TypicallycandidatesforfullmembershiptotheFWAmusthave eitherfouryearsofprofessionalexperienceinafinancialpositionortwoyearsofexperiencewithan advanceddegreeinbusiness.However,associatemembershipsarealsoavailableforcandidateswith lessprofessional experience, including FWAWSEalumni.

PROCEDURES

Acandidatemustcompleteanapplicationform,whichisavailableatyourcollegeplacementofficeoronthe FWA website(

TheCollegeConnectionsCommitteerequiresanofficialcollegetranscriptaspartoftheapplication submissionandtworecommendationsforeachstudentapplicant.Atleastonemustbeanacademic recommendation;theothermaybeanadditionalacademicrecommendationorareferencefroman employer with whomyouhave worked inthepast18months.

WhiletheprerequisiteforqualificationisapaidsummerinternshipintheNewYorkCitymetroareawitha financialservicescompanyorafinancialpositionwithanon-financialservicescompany,applicantswhoare completingthe jobinterviewprocess willbeconsidered fortheWall Street Exchange Program.

YoursummerjobemploymentstatuswillbeconfirmedinlateMaywhentheCollegeConnectionsCommittee contacts applicants withfollow-up questions and to notify applicants of acceptancetotheprogram.
