“Oh, My Soldier!”
SOLDIER’S SONG – Et Cetera feat. Carl Wayne
MAJOR OAK RECORDS - CD 181.547 (Distributed by MCP Sound & Media AG)
Carl Wayne, founder member and original front-man of legendary 60s rockers The Move and now lead singer with their equally legendary peers The Hollies, has united with Ulli Eichblatt and German pop project Et Cetera to record the much-loved "Soldier's Song". Having recently recorded new track, “How Do I Survive” in The Hollies 40th anniversary year for their current chart album, “Hollies Greatest Hits”, Carl remains as enthusiastic as ever about recording a new Hollies album - but is eager not to lose momentum in the meantime. "Soldier's Song" has also been recorded in response to the many thousands of requests from fans eager for Carl’s interpretations of classic Hollies songs to appear on record.
Written by renowned singer, songwriter and producer Mike Batt, "Soldier's Song" is a dramatic, brooding rock ballad which taps into current world events by lamenting the misery and destruction caused by war. Originally a UK and European hit for The Hollies in 1979, the song made a welcome return to the live set when Carl joined the band in 2000. Utilising six years worth of theatrical experience gained from his critically-acclaimed starring role as The Narrator in Willy Russell’s hit West End musical “Blood Brothers”, "Soldier's Song" is perfect for Carl’s incredible vocal talents and dramatic ability.
Having led a distinguished career in many areas of the music business including rock bands, radio, television and stage musicals, Carl is thrilled with this new and exciting association and hopes "Soldier's Song" will mark the first of many new recordings. Other songs in production include a new version of Roy Wood’s classic Move hit "Blackberry Way" (with a German version!) and a brand new track called "When the Boys Come Home".
For the past seven years, Ulli Eichblatt’s Et Cetera have achieved major chart success in GSA with hits as diverse as the German version of “Killing Me Softly” (1996), “Break My Stride” (1997) and “Codo” (1999). Eichblatt has also experienced success internationally with Haddaway and Bad Boys Blue. In 2000 he recorded “Long Cool Woman In A Black Dress” with former Hollies-singer Allan Clarke and followed this in Spring 2001 with a brand new Et Cetera and Allan Clarke collaboration on The Hollies classic “He Ain’t Heavy, He’s My Brother”. Eichblatt also records house and dance-songs under the pseudonym “Clubsequenzer 1” and will release the projects’ debut-album this June. Ullli Eichblatt will also perform during June at the Austrian Grand Prix – this time as a solo-artist!
“Soldier’s Song” is available in the UK exclusively through Carl Wayne’s award-winning official website, All CDs ordered via the website will be signed by Carl.
