EXTRA NEWS
  • In your child’s Friday Folder you will find a Veteran’s Day Interview Sheet. If you do not know a veteran, that is okay. This sheet is extra credit. If you are able, please have your child practice reading it before they bring it in. First graders love sharing and hearing stories about the veterans and are always proud that they know a veteranThey will receive a sticker for filling out and knowing what their sheet says.
  • Spelling: Every Monday we have a spelling pre-test. If your child already knows the words on Monday, I will pick two words out of their journal for them to practice. These words will be placed on the bottom of the sheet.
  • Every day after lunch we reflect on how our day is going with God. After a quiet minute, we finish with the Act of Contrition. We also include ACTS in our prayer time. Ask your child what each of these letters stand for. They should tell you, “A is for Adoration, tell God something you adore. C is for Contrite, tell God something you are sorry for. T is for Thanksgiving, tell God something you are Thankful for. S is for Supplication, tell God something you need help with or something someone else needs help with. Monsignor Duncan once told the congregation at St. Sebastian that he was taught this prayer by the nuns when he was in school. These four words should always be included in our prayers. Try this at your dinner table at night by telling God something your family adores and something you are thankful for. I hope you enjoy it too!
  • Spelling City, IXL and Raz Kids are all great ideas for extra credit at home!
