Grant Program Description
The Michigan Chapter of US Lacrosse offers yearly grants to help promote the growth of the sport of lacrosse in the State.
Grants are awarded for start-up teams within their first 4 years of operation, lacrosse coaches wishing to participate in lacrosse related professional development, and lacrosse officials wishing to participate in lacrosse related professional development. Because of the focus on growing the sport sources, grants do not support established teams, commercial ventures, or non-lacrosse activities.
Eligibility
- Start-Up teams – Lacrosse teams in their first 4 years of operation.
- Applicant Group Director must be a current member of US Lacrosse. Though the entire teams does not have to be.
- Applicant group must fall under one of the following Categories and must have a completed game schedule.
- Elementary (Youth) or Middle School Program
- Community based program (YMCA, Police Athletic league, Parks and rec dept., Boys and Girls club, Club team associated with a town)
- High School Program. Either Single School or Co-operative.
- College Club program.
- Post College Club Program, including Masters or Grand Masters.
- Applicant Group must not have previously received a US Lacrosse Michigan Chapter Grant
- Previous grant applications that were denied funding may reapply if their program is still within their first 4 years of operation
- Grants will be awarded for up to $1000 until budgeted funds are utilized.
- US Lacrosse Registered Coaches – to help with decreasing the cost for training fees online/classroom courses or convention costs.
- Applicant must be a current member of US Lacrosse.
- Grants will be awarded for up to $150 until budgeted funds are utilized.
- US Lacrosse Registered Officials – to help with decreasing the cost for training fees online/classroom courses or convention costs.
- Applicant must be a current member of US Lacrosse.
- Grants will be awarded for up to $100 until budgeted funds are utilized.
All Applications must be submitted by a current member of US Lacrosse with a valid US Lacrosse membership number.
Ineligible applications will not be reviewed.

- Normal processing time is 2 weeks from the day of reception to notification of the decision.
- Coaches and Officials

- Normal processing time is 2 weeks from the day of reception to notification of the decision. Applicants seeking to use funds for US Lacrosse related convention purposes may be expedited through a 1 week process.
Application Requirements
- Start-Up team Submission Requirements
- Completed Application. Must be typed. Hand written applications will not be accepted.
- Minimum of one letter of recommendation/support for your program from a school or government official with oversight of the Applicant Group.
- Season schedule of competitions including all games, scrimmages, and tournaments planned for the season the Applicant Group is applying in.
- DO NOT include additional materials such as brochures, presentations, or video clips.
- US Lacrosse Registered Coaches & Officials
- Completed Application. Must be typed. Hand written applications will not be accepted.
- Provide US Lacrosse-Michigan Chapter with proper information on training/ conference/class/ online course that you are seeking reimbursement/assistance for.
- Provide US Lacrosse-Michigan Chapter with proof of registration for thetraining/ conference/class/ online course that you are seeking reimbursement/assistance for.
- Coaches must provide a Season schedule of competitions including all games, scrimmages, and tournaments planned for the season.
Grant Disbursement and Recipient Requirements
Applicants and Applicant Groups awarded funds must meet the following requirements to receive and retain funding in a timely manner.
Grant Disbursement
Applicant or Applicant Group must sign and submit the Start-up Grant Agreement, which will be sent with the notification email if your grant is accepted. A decision on the Grant Application will be rendered within 2 weeks of submission to the Committee. Fund Disbursement will occur in as quick and timely manner as possible, with consideration given to any conditions placed upon the Applicant or Applicant Group.
Recipient Requirements
- Applicant or Applicant Group must sign and submit the Start-up Grant Agreement, which will be sent with the notification email if your grant is accepted. The letter affirms the Applicant or Applicant Group agrees to complete the following activities as a condition of the grant.
- Submit all receipts and invoices to US Lacrosse – Michigan Chapter for all lacrosse items that are purchased with grant funds.
- Strongly encourage all team participants to become members of US Lacrosse.
- Agrees to any special conditions imposed upon the Applicant or Applicant Group as laid out in the notification email.
- Failure to comply will these requirements and any special conditions will disqualify the Applicant or Applicant group from receiving further grants, remaining funds promised, and other assistance and support from US Lacrosse – Michigan Chapter. USLM will additionally inform US Lacrosse and other partner organizations of the situation.
