KIDS SAY THE DARNEDEST THINGS….
One student commented to her teacher who had recently lost a bunch of weight, “Are those your mom’s pants that you are wearing today…..”

YUMMY RECIPE…I’ll attach a recipe each week that is shared by someone in our Lafayette community. Please share your “go-to” recipes that are loved by your family! This week is an interesting one that I saw online!

SCHOOL NOTES:
WE’RE HAVING A FOOD DRIVE FOR THANKSGIVING…The Good Neighbor Food Pantry located in Franconia has asked us to help fill Thanksgiving baskets. Everything is needed by Monday, November 11. We will put boxes in the vestibule for collection! Check out the attached flyer for detailed information about what is needed. Let’s see if we can collect 250 cans of food, or maybe more…..

SHOEBOX REMINDER….A friendly request reminderto Lafayette Service Kids….It’s your last chance. Please bring in your items you bought for theOperation Christmas Child Shoeboxes!

Honeywell Instant Alert…Coming home today is information about our new alert system. All the other schools in the SAU use this system as well to communicate about school closings and other various events and activities. Please sign into the system as instructed in the letter and customize how you would like to be alerted. You can be texted, emailed, called on your cell or your home phone, or even be paged! You can also designate the time and types of event you would like for each device. Please check it out as we will no longer have a snow tree so it’s important to do this. Thanks.

INNISBROOK ORDERS WILL BE READY FOR PICK-UP …..There are a few left in the Science Lab. Thanks for coming in at your earliest convenience.

JAPANESE CALLIGRAPHY…We have a couple spots left for this very cool after school class thatis being offered again this year for 2nd to 6th graders, starting on Tuesday, November 12 for 5 weeks. Check out the flyer on our website under newsletter attachments for more details and to sign up. Space in limited.

WINTER PROGRAM …Thanks to everyone who has already sent in their forms! And thanks ahead of rthe rest of you in getting them in as soon as possible but no later than November 15th! The detailed information will be sent home around Thanksgiving. No money is needed now.

THANKSGIVING LUNCHEON….Forms are coming home today. Please sign up! You don’t want to miss this yummy lunch/dinner….especially the gravy! This year’s Thanksgiving Luncheon will be Wednesday, November 20.

WALK TO SCHOOL FRIDAYS…Join Mr. Mellekas at the Community Church in Franconia by 7:10 and walk to school any Friday, weather permitting. (Use your best judgement)

HALLOWEEN HAPPENINGS….It was incredible, despite the rain! I’m not sure the kids noticed it was raining until they got back and were soaking wet. Hope the costumes dried out in time for last night’s fun! Big thanks to Colleen and her crew of apple mummy makers. What a great snack the kids and staff enjoyed after the parade today. NOVEMBER MEETING …Our next meeting is Monday November 4 at 7:45am. Agenda attached.

Bids 4 Kids 2013 – It’s almost here! A list of items will be coming home on Monday for you to peruse before you attend the big event next Friday night, the 8th, at Chef Joe’s in Franconia.

As a reminder….The Auction time will be from 6:30-9:00 p.m. with the LIVE Auction to be somewhere in the middle, rather than the end of the Auction, which is different than prior years. Ticket prices will be $10.00 which includes entrance to the Auction, a wonderful time & a sampling of the delicious appetizers that Chef Joe's will serve. Adult beverages will be purchased. I understand the bartenders have perfected the pumpkin martini! Please come buy your tickets in the office from Toni. It’s really helpful to sell as many tickets in advance as it helps us plan the food! CROSS COUNTRY SKIING FOR KIDS….Learn a lifelong outdoor winter sport! Bretton Woods Nordic Club/Bill Koch League, for kids ages 5 – 14 (8th grade), all levels: beginner/intermediate/advanced. Bretton Woods Nordic Center, Omni Mount Washington Resort, Every Saturday, 1:30-3:30 p.m., January through ~mid-March. Cost: $50 (rental equipment available for an additional fee). 2013 MONROE ARTS & CRAFTS JAMBOREE…Saturday, November 2, 2013. Bring your friends and family to complete three sessions of projects ranging from turkeys to tie-dye. For more information go to or check out the flyer on the website.

FRANCONIA CHILDRENS CENTER SALE NIGHT FUNDRAISER AT GARNET HILL…Save the date of Saturday, November 9 at 5:30 pm. More information to follow next week.
