Ambassador Duty Descriptions
Customer Service Outreach:
You will be provided a “Book of Business” of 10 -20 members for the year. During the year, you will be asked to outreach and engage these members at a minimum, on a quarterly basis. You will be provided with an outreach outline and suggestions throughout the year. You are encouraged to send a hand written note on GLI notecards and/or a personalized email. Remember to identify yourself as a GLI Volunteer Ambassador.
When appropriate, you can invite the member to be your guest at an upcoming Small Business Breakfast Club, Business at Breakfast meeting, and Wake Up Wind Down. Both you and the member will be able to attend at no cost to either of you.
You can also invite members to meet you at an upcoming Member Celebration or encourage them to attend an upcoming MY GLI.
Monthly Ambassador Meetings:
Monthly meetings are held on the fourth Thursday of each month unless otherwise noted on the Ambassador Calendar due to holiday. Check-in and networking begins at 11:30 am, the meeting begins promptly at noon and concludes at 1:00pm.
Ribbon Cuttings/Member Celebrations:
When a business becomes a new member of Greater Louisville Inc, opens a new branch office which itself becomes a member, or is celebrating an anniversary, they have the option to have a "Ribbon Cutting". Ribbon Cuttings are held at the new members’ place of business. The new member chooses the date and time, and is responsible for invitations, refreshments and publicity, etc. GLI provides the ribbon, a speaker who congratulates the member and welcomes them into the business community.
Ambassadors are encouraged to participate in this ceremony as a representative of GLI. This provides the opportunity for Ambassadors to begin the relationship-building process by welcoming the new member, telling them you appreciate their membership and wishing them success.
Volunteering at GLI events:
This consists of arriving early to assist with setting our materials, greeting people at the door, serving as a directional person, inviting them in, telling them how things usually work at that particular type of event, introducing them to other existing members and making sure no one is a “wall flower.”
- Attending events as a regular member and not an event volunteer?
Please just wear your Ambassador Name badge. In this capacity, you are not arriving early to work the event, but are attending on your own. As an Ambassador, however, you are expected to look for people who may look “lost” or in need of assistance.
NOTE:When serving as a greeter or attending on your own, please remember to reach out to non-Ambassadors as they are the members who are most likely in need of your assistance.
Annual Campaign:
Each year, GLI embarks on a highly energetic fund raising annual campaign. Those Ambassadors interested in stepping up their volunteerism for a short but intense period of time, can form an Annual Campaign Ambassador Team. Ambassadors are still expected to fulfill their normal Ambassador duties during the campaign and are eligible to earn rewards and prizes via the Annual Campaign rewards program.
