Biographies of Artistes

Andrew Lum

In his career of 18 years, award-winning composer, arranger and producer and founder of New Asia Records, one of the most progressive labels in the region, Andrew Lum had worked in Taipei, Hong Kong, London, India, China, Malaysia and Vancouver, and had collaborated with the renowned in the international music industry including Ryuichi Sakamoto, the London Philharmonic Orchestra, Jorge Callendrelli, Kenny Wen, John Kaizan Neptune, V Selvaganesh, Goh Hotoda. He scored for the TV mini-series AlterAsians, which won the Finalist Award in the prestigious New York Festivals. One of his compositions, New Asia, won the Top 10 award in the World Music Category of the International Song-writing Competition, received the Finalist Award in the ISC International Song Writing Competition and also received Honourable Mention in the Billboard World Song Contest. In 2006, COMPASS awarded Andrew the Wings of Excellence Award and the Top Contemporary Instrumental Award. In 2007, he was again awarded the Top Contemporary Instrumental Award.

Corrinne May

Corrinne May began her training in classical piano from the age of 5 and won her first song-writing competition at age 15. She pursued her passion for song-writing and film-scoring at the Berklee College of Music in Boston and graduated with a Bachelor of Music. She then moved to Los Angeles to pursue her musical aspirations. She released her debut album Corrinne May in 2001 and the album featured the ballad “If You Didn’t Love Me”, co-written with iconic songwriters Carole King and Carole Bayer Sager. The album earned her the “Kerrville New Folk Award” at the Kerrville Folk Festival. The album was later re-titled Fly Away and was released in Taiwan, Hong Kong, Japan and Singapore. Her next album Safe in a Crazy World was released in 2005 and the songs “Everything in Its Time” (co-written with Carole Bayer Sager) and “Save Me” were featured in the Singapore television series “Chase” which helped to propel the album to the top of the Singapore charts for two weeks. As a result of the album’s success, she had a string of sold-out concerts at the Esplanade Concert Hall in Singapore. In 2006, Corrinne released her Christmas record The Gift and in 2007, Warner Music Singapore released her newest album Beautiful Seed. The album had achieved platinum status in Singapore, with sales exceeding 15,000, after achieveing gold status within its first month. Corrinne embarked on her first performance tour in Japan in August 2007. In recognition of her contributions to the Singapore and regional music scenes, she received the Young Composer of the Year Award and Wings of Excellence Award from COMPASS and was honoured by the National University of Singapore with the “Outstanding Young Alumni Award”.
