Hello and thank you for your interest in our new partnership with Manchester Federal Correctional Institution, the Bureau of Prisons, Inside-Out, and EKUs regional campuses and sites criminal justice program. This is truly a unique opportunity for you, but it is very important that you understand and follow these step-by-step instructions in order to apply for a seat in this course.

Please note: This will be a live class taught in Manchester, KY, and attendance will be mandatory with no excused absences and no possibilities of being tardy, you will be allowed to miss only one class under an emergency situation that must be conveyed to your instructor at the earliest possible time. Penalties for missing more than one class meeting will be no possible way to earn an A in the course, and any absences beyond 2 could result in a failing grade at your Instructor’s and program Coordinator’s discretion. You will be required to dress under a certain dress code, and will be required to show up to class early to go through entrance procedures at the institution for every class.

Accepted students will have to go through an orientation segment at Manchester FCI and will have to follow strict rules of EKU, the BOP, and the institution at all times.

  • Step One:
  • Read the step-by-step instructions in their entirety and understand them. Contact Mr. James Lawson with any questions that you have.
  • Step Two:
  • Access the prequalification application form located in the Inside-Out section of Be certain to fill this out in its entirety and to the best of your knowledge, as incomplete applications will not be considered for inclusion.
  • Step Three:
  • Immediately email Mr. James Lawson at upon submission to inform him of successful submission of the prequalification application form and to set up an interview that will be held at the Manchester Regional Campus between yourself and Mr. Lawson.
  • Step Four:
  • Once you have informed Mr. Lawson of your application submission and scheduled a meeting with Mr. Lawson, you must then fill out the NCIC authorization form located in the inside out section of cjregional.eku.edu. You must type your informationinto the document and fill the form out completely then print and sign. You will be required to bring that to your interview with Mr. Lawson. IMPORTANT! : By submitting this form a criminal history background WILL be conducted, please consider this thoroughly before submission.
  • Step Five:
  • In addition to above, you must also type your information into the Student Waiver Form, then print out the form that is located in the inside out section of cjregional.eku.edu. You must sign your name after you have filled the form out completely in type and printed. You will be required to bring that to your interview with Mr. Lawson.
  • Step Six:
  • Upon successfully interviewing and submission of all forms and documents, you will be notified your course registration number and any further information, including a packet, for your class.
