A RESOLUTION adjourning the Senate in loving memory and honor of Frederick Booker Noe II.
With deepest respect and admiration, we pay homage and tribute to Frederick Booker Noe II, and we pause in silent reverence for his soul.
WHEREAS, Frederick Booker Noe II was born on December 7, 1929, a native of Springfield, Washington County, Kentucky, and longtime resident of Bardstown, Nelson County, Kentucky, and he traversed these earthly bounds on February 24, 2004; and
WHEREAS, Frederick Booker Noe II was the loving son of the late Frederick Booker and Margaret Noe, and he was also preceded in death by a loving sister, Mary Beam Grider; he was the devoted husband of 47 years to Annis Wickham Noe; he was the loving father of a son, Frederick Booker Noe III, and the loving father-in-law to Sandy Noe; he was the proud grandfather of a grandson, Frederick Booker Noe IV; and he also leaves behind a loving brother, Jere Noe, a loving sister, Mildred Lancaster, and caring friends, Marilyn Dick and Danny Lockhart; and
WHEREAS, Frederick Booker Noe II, fondly known as "Booker," was the sixth generation of his family to distill bourbon; he was the master distiller emeritus for Jim Beam Brands and grandson of the legendary Jim Beam; and his is one of the six faces on bottles of Jim Beam bourbon, which was first bottled under that name in 1934; and
WHEREAS, for almost 50 years, Frederick Booker Noe II worked at the Jim Beam distillery in Boston and Clermont, overseeing the production and aging of bourbon; in 1988, he created his own signature bourbon, "Booker's Bourbon," the world's first small batch, ultra-premium bourbon that was bottled from the barrel without filtering, and a process he likened to capturing the spirit of his great-great-great-grandfather, Jacob Beam, in 1795; and
WHEREAS, Frederick Booker Noe II retired from daily duty at Jim Beam in 1992, but he continued to act as a spokesman for the company and oversee the distilling of Booker's Bourbon, with the help of his son, who will honor his father's wishes and continue selecting the bourbons that will bear his father's name; and
WHEREAS, the passing of Frederick Booker Noe II has left a void that cannot be filled, and he is mourned across the length and breadth of the Commonwealth;
NOW, THEREFORE,
Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky:

Section 1. The Senate does hereby express its profound sense of sorrow upon the passing of Frederick Booker Noe II, and extends to his family and many friends its most heartfelt sympathy.
Section 2. When the Senate adjourns this day, it does so in loving memory and honor of Frederick Booker Noe II.
Section 3. The Clerk of the Senate is hereby directed to transmit a copy of this Resolution to Mrs. Annis Wickham Noe, 416 North 3rd Street, Bardstown, Kentucky 40004; and to Mr. Frederick Booker Noe III, 418 North 3rd Street, Bardstown, Kentucky 40004.
