Secretary of State’s draft regulations? What have you done so far?
- Assessment Appeal Fees: What counties have them? How to develop fees? Who is
currently considering them? Has a BOS rejected a fee proposal? Why?
- What new technology or procedures have you implemented to streamline operations in the
Clerk’s office?
- Has anyone had problems with AAB two-year deadlines so far?
- What practices do you follow to handle invalid assessment appeal applications?
Do you hold validity hearings?
- How can we educate taxpayers about assessment scams? What type of scams have
you seen? What steps have counties taken to address the problem?
- Has your office suffered layoffs or a hiring freeze? How have you dealt with the ongoing
workload in all areas of the clerk’s office?
- Have you seen an increase in requests for copies of assessment appeal applications,
AAB database, or spreadsheets of AAB data? How do you handle these requests? In what format
do you provide it? Is any information redacted out? What do you charge?
- How do you handle appeal applications on which the applicant is filing on both a base year
value and a decline in value under Prop 8? If you charge a filing fee, would you charge one fee for
two issues or just one fee?
- How do you utilize Assessment Hearing Officers?
