Yonder DatabaseAs an investor relations specialist for Blue Yonder Airlines, you need to maintain and safeguard thedatabases that you use. Set the database properties and compact and repair the Income andExpenses database.
GET READY. LAUNCH Access if it is not already running.
1. OPEN the BlueYonderdatabase from the data files for this lesson.
2. Save the database as BlueYonder XXX (where XXX is your initials).
3. Click the File tab, and then click the Info tab, and select the View and edit databaseproperties link.
4. Key Income and Expenses in the Subject box.
5. Key your name in the Author box.
6. Key Andrew Lanin the Manager box.
7. Key BlueYonder Airlines in the Company box.
8. Click OK.
9. Select Compact and Repair.
CLOSE the database.
Project 15-2: Back Up and Split the WingTip Database
As part of your maintenance of database files at WingTip Toys, you decide to create a backup of adatabase and split it so that others in the company can create their own forms and reports using thedata in the tables.
GET READY. LAUNCH Access if it is not already running.
1. OPEN the Wingtip database from the data files for this lesson.
2. SAVE the database as Wingtip XXX (where XXX is your initials).
3. Click the File tab, and then click the Save & Publish tab, and select Back UpDatabase.
4. Use the generated file name with the date and click Save.
5. On the Database Tools tab, in the Move Data group, click the Access Databasebutton.
6. Click the Split database button.
7. Accept the Wingtip XXX_befile name and click Split.
8. Click OK.
CLOSE the database.

Project 15-3: Encrypt the Blue Yonder Database
Create a password to protect the data in the Income and Expenses database.
USE the BlueYonder XXX database that you saved in a previous exercise.
1. OPEN the BlueYonder XXX database in Exclusive mode.
2. In Backstage view, on the Info tab click the Encrypt with Password button.
3. Key #1BlueYonder$87 in the Password box.
4. Key #1BlueYonder$87 in the Verify box.
5. Click OK.
6. CLOSE the database.
7. OPEN the database in regular mode.
8. Key #1BlueYonder$87 in the Password box.
9. Open the Database Documenter.
10. Select the Income & Expenses Summary table and click OK to view the report.
11. Print the report.
12. Close Print Preview.
CLOSE the database.
Project 15-4: Save the Lucerne Database in a Previous File Format
1. OPEN the Lucerne database from the data files for this lesson.
2. Save the database in the Access 2002–2003 Database file format with the name
Lucerne 2002–2003.
CLOSE the database.

Project 15-5: Decrypt and Back Up the Blue Yonder Database
Password protection for the Blue Yonder Income and Expenses database is no longer necessary.Remove the encryption.
USE the BlueYonder XXX database that you saved in a previous exercise.
1. Remove the encryption with a password from the Blue Yonder database.
2. Create a backup file for the database using the generated file name. Save it in thesame
location as the original version.
CLOSE the database.
Project 15-6: View Object Dependencies in the Humongous Database
An assistant at Humongous Insurance has moved some files around on the computer you share. Usethe Linked Tables Manager to refresh a link to an Excel file that has been imported.
OPEN Humongous Insurance from the data files for this lesson.
1. Save the database as Humongous Insurance XXX (where XXX is your initials).
2. View the Object Dependencies Information for the Part-time Employees Table.
3. SAVE the database.
CLOSE the database.
