Rotarian of the Day
Mark Lee
Mark joined Rotary in 2004. He is project manager at Volute, Inc., in Houma. Mark lists his hobbies as landscape gardening and all things football.
Mark says Rotary is important because it’s about making a difference in your community and around the world. He says “You can always count on Rotarians to be honest, compassionate, caring, and fun-loving. I’m very proud to be a member of this great organization.”
ROTARY GUEST TODAY: Laura Valenti
Laura Valenti is an accomplished professor, business woman, entrepreneur, philanthropic volunteer, Mrs. Louisiana International 2013, and wife of a professional firefighter. She is speaking today on Free Enterprise Week at Nicholls State University.
As a marketing professor with Nicholls, Laura has been acknowledged each semester for Contributing to Students’ Success, is the Chair of the Internal Relations Committee, Director of the university’s Free Enterprise Week, an Associate Graduate Faculty member who was nominated for her excellence in teaching in 2011 and 2012. Her academic accomplishments include earning a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Master’s degree in Business, both from the University of New Orleans. She recently earned the 2012 McGraw Hill Distinguished Paper Award in the Association for Business Communication - Southwest Division, was recently elected the Board’s Proceedings Editor, and has been accepted into the Grenoble Ecole de Management Doctoral program in Grenoble, France, where she will research franchise marketing applications. Laura also writes a monthly column based off of her platform, SHE-Selling, for WHAT NOW Magazine. Most recently she has been appointed to the Louisiana State Commission for the Wetlands Discovery Center. Laura also serves as the newly elected Board President for Houma Young Professionals.
Laura has been married to Richard (Ricky) Valenti, Jr. for three years. Though they do not have children, they enjoy raising their two miniature schnauzer pups, Kodie and Ellie.
