A.1.CALL TO ORDER

Councillor R. Noce, Deputy Mayor, called the meeting to order at 9:35 a.m.

Mayor B. Smith and Councillor W. Kinsella were absent.

A.2.ADOPTION OF AGENDA

That the Special City Council Agenda for the November 19, 1998 meeting be adopted.

B.URGENT MATTERS - PROTOCOL ITEMS

B.1.a.2001 World Track and Field Championships (R. Noce).

Deputy Mayor R. Noce announced that the City of Edmonton had been successful in its bid to host the 2001 World Track and Field Championships and congratulated the Bid Committee for all its hard work.

E.1.a.1999 Budgets – Non-Statutory Public Hearing.

R. Hawrelak and D. Cox, Edmonton Chamber of Commerce; M. Wagner and D. Rawson, Riverbend Community League; and J. Anderson, Brookview Community League, made presentations.

B.URGENT MATTERS - PROTOCOL ITEMS

B.1.b.2001 World Track and Field Championships (B. Smith)

Mayor B. Smith, via telephone, congratulated the City of Edmonton on its successful bid and stated that 22 out of 24 delegates had voted for the City to host the 2001 World Track and Field Championships.

E.1.a.1999 Budgets – Non-Statutory Public Hearing.

N. Spillios, Friends of Edmonton Library; E. Stephanson, Advisory Board on Services for Persons with Disabilities; J. Standing, Edmonton Transit System Advisory Board (a copy of her presentation was distributed to all Members of Council and filed with the Office of the City Clerk); I. Broda; B. Thurn, Landlord and Tenant Advisory Board; and D. Finucane made presentations.

Members of Council asked questions of the presenters.

Council recessed at 11:12 a.m.

Council reconvened at 1:15 p.m.

B.1.c.Welcome – Hillview Elementary School – Millwoods (R. Noce)

Deputy Mayor R. Noce welcomed the teacher and students from the Hillview Elementary School in Millwoods.

Laboucane, Community Action Project; B. Gangl, Ottewell Kenilworth Home Owners Drainage Advisory Committee; M. Leskiw, CSU 52; D.J. Parker, Green Party of Alberta (a copy of his presentation was distributed to all Members of Council and filed with the Office of the City Clerk); H. Shedywasser, Logican Technologies; and N. Gaelick, Northgate Seniors Association, made presentations.
