Independence Day: BrewDog offers free beers to those in need of a ‘craft beer awakening’

Beer fans can tag friends yet to discover the transformative power of independent craft beer, and both will receive a free half-pint of BrewDog’s latest brew, Indie Pale Ale

Independent craft brewer, BrewDog, is inviting thousands of people across the UK to “break from the shackles of mass-produced beer” with a free taste of its new session brew, Indie Pale Ale.

Beer fans can invite their friends to join the craft beer revolution by tagging them on BrewDog’s social media channels using the hashtag #DrinkIndie before midnight on Thursday 11th January 2018. Both parties will then receive a free half-pint of Indie Pale Ale at any of BrewDog’s 30 UK bars upon showing bar staff proof of the post on their phones.

James Watt, cofounder of BrewDog commented:

“Indie Pale Ale will mark the craft beer awakening of thousands of people who are yet to discover the awesome power of independent craft beer. This is for everyone who thinks they don’t like beer, for those who’ve been bamboozled by mega breweries insisting beer is just fizzy, yellow lager, for those too shy to ask for something different. This is the first beer of the rest of your life. Toast your freedom, and be transformed.”

Indie Pale Ale has been carefully crafted to deliver maximum flavour, with a mild bitterness and mellow hop profile. Combined with its delicate malt base and tropical fruit and caramel notes, Indie Pale Ale is an ideal sessionable beer for anyone trying out craft beer for the first time.

James continued:

“Indie Pale Ale is perfect for anyone who is ready to expand their craft beer horizons. Designed for the post-lager generation, it is the gateway to the kickass world of independent craft beer. This labour of love has been months in the making, but it was worth the wait.”

The launch of Indie Pale Ale is the latest move from the brewery to ensure that the craft beer revolution can be all-encompassing and inclusive, irrespective of lifestyle or personal preference. In 2015, BrewDog launched its Vagabond Gluten Free Pale Ale proving a lack of gluten does not equate to lack of flavour. BrewDog’s low alcohol beer, Nanny State (0.5% ABV), is perfect for anyone who wants to enjoy a bold, bitter beer without the booze and is now one of the UK’s top ten best-selling craft beers. BrewDog is also registered with the Vegan Society, and its vegan beers feature its symbol on their labels.

James Watt continued:

“For over a decade we have been pushing the boundaries of what beer can be. Part of our mission to make everyone as passionate about beer as we are is to guarantee that there is an awesome beer for everyone- they just haven’t tried it yet. Indie Pale Ale is the latest brew to help us deliver on that mission.”

Anyone wishing to receive a free half pint of Indie Pale Ale can tag their friends and @BrewDog on Twitter, or comment on BrewDog’s Indie Pale Ale posts on Facebook.com/BrewDogOfficial or Instagram.com/BrewDogOfficial. Users must use the hashtag #DrinkIndie to qualify. One half-pint per person.

About BrewDog plc

Since 2007 BrewDog has been on a mission to make other people as passionate about great craft beer as we are. From the Headliner series, which includes bold, uncompromising pack leaders like the flagship Punk IPA, to the Amplified range (beer, but turned up to 11), BrewDog creates beer that blows people’s minds and has kick-started a revolution.

Cofounders James Watt and Martin Dickie shook up the business world in 2010 with the launch of pioneering crowdfunding initiative Equity for Punks, an initiative that has seen the company raise £41m over four rounds, taking more money through online equity crowdfunding than any other on record. The funds, and the army of punk shareholders (65,000) enabled the Scottish craft brewery to scale up without selling out.

With over 50 global bar launches, export into 55 countries, and a brand new brewery in Ohio launched in 2017, BrewDog continues to take the craft beer revolution stratospheric, whilst continuing to push the boundaries, invest in people, put the beer first, and champion other small breweries in its venues.
