Remuneration / This position attracts an hourly rate of $25.21 per hour plus casual loading of 25% loading in lieu of paid leave (excluding superannuation) .

Organisational Background
Ramahyuck District Aboriginal Corporation (RDAC) was established as an Aboriginal Community Controlled organisation in 1992 to improve the social, health and economic outcomes for Aboriginal people. RDAC is a leading provider of culturally appropriate , comprehensive primary health care and related social and family support services to Aboriginal people and communities across Gippsland.RDAC’s services are provided at the following locations: Sale (3), Morwell, Drouin, Loch Sport, Rosedale and Stratford.RDAC’s services include; General Practice, Health Assessment and Early Detection Screenings, Health promotion and Education, Dental, Audiology, Chronic Disease Management and Care Coordination , Drug and Alcohol counselling, Family, Child and Maternal Health, Home and Community Care, Immunisation and Vaccinations, Social and Emotional Wellbeing services, Allied Health, Client Transport and Corporate Services.
Team Information
The Medical Driver is accountable to:
- The Chief Executive Officer, The board of Directors and the wider community for practice according to the philosophy, policies and goals of the centre.
- The Practice Nurse for a high standard of work practice
- The clinical team for effective communication and work relationships including shared work responsibilities
Position Purpose
Provide safe and timely transport for Aboriginal client
Skills, Knowledge and Capabilities
- Experience working within a cross culture environment
- Knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures
- Well developed interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with people, particularly Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
- Ability to function in a multi disciplinary team and ability to function independently
- Knowledge and understand of quality improvement processes
- Knowledge and skills in contemporary Human Recourses Management practices including Work Health and Safety, Equal Employment Opportunity and Anti Discrimination.
Position Functions
Key areas of accountabilities- Provide medical transport assistance to patients and community as directed..
- Transport may be local, regional or interstate .
- Maintain the condition of the vehicles, ensuring that they are safe, clean and ready for patient use.
- Ensure vehicles have the following equipment first aid kit, spills kit and fire extinguisher
- Work in a way that is culturally appropriate including gender sensitivities operating in the Aboriginal Community .
- Comply with Ramahyuck policies and procedures
- Be respectful to clients and treat all information about the client with strict confidentiality.
- Liaise and work with health team as required
- Maintain records of transport provided
10.participate in staff meetings as directed
- Participate in the annual performance review process.

Ensure a safe working environment is maintained to RDAC staff and clients.

Actively participate in a continuous process of developing cultural competence by broadening knowledge of and respect for diverse individuals and communities with particular emphasis on the local East Gippsland demographic.
Teamwork
Work proactively with all members of the RDAC clinical teams in Sale, Morwell and Drouin in supporting the project and its strategic aims. In addition, work closely with relevant personnel from other stakeholders who are involved in the Working Together for Health initiative.
